It's the Thought That Counts

I never imagined I’d say it, but I’m beginning to identify with Barack Obama. I’m certainly not referring to his politics or his narcissism, but it seems that both of us really suck when it comes to gift giving.

First, he gave Prime Minister Gordon Brown some DVDs that were incompatible with English electronics, and then he gave Queen Elizabeth an iPod that contained his speeches. Well, I hate to admit it, but I can empathize. Shopping for a prime minister has got to be hard enough, but trying to shop for a woman who has her own country would give me the mother of all migraines. Frankly I’m surprised he didn’t just fall back on that old reliable. When in doubt, I say, you can’t go wrong giving cash. Which, by the way, seems to be one of the things, as opposed to bowling and speaking without a TelePrompter, at which the president seems to be quite adept. And, best of all, the cash, unlike the iPod, would be a personal gift because the Queen’s picture would be on it.

Obama: I shaved my legs for this?

Liberals always react to a mass shooting by blaming the gun, not the shooter, but strangely even liberals are blaming the 'shooter' -- North Korea's Kim Jong Il -- for launching a missile, rather than blaming the missile itself. In fact, Obama condemned the launch as a provocation, threatening to blister Kim Jong Il with a harsh note of protest on Twitter.
As Obama watched news of the missile, he shook his Blackberry in anger! He then threatened to fire Kim but North Korea hadn't accepted TARP money.
The missile launch is a huge blow to Obama. Being a communist basket case hell hole, North Korea is one of the bluest of the 57 states.
Liberals are always shocked that murderous mass shootings are carried out despite laws banning murderous mass shootings, so Obama was shocked that North Korea could launch a missile even though it's illegal! Isn't this like, um, against UN resolutions and stuff?
U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice said earlier Sunday that the U.S. wants the "most appropriate and strong response" to the missile launch. Oh, dear. Not the dreaded 'appropriate and strong response'! Or else. Or else TOTUS will upload a really, really stern speech. Who knows, maybe Obama will really get tough and go down on one knee before Kim.
Given reports that the rocket may have fizzled, maybe the DNC should erect a giant billboard in Kim's hometown. Americans didn't vote for a launch to failure!
North Korea's "news" outlets -- not to be confused with MSNBC and CNN -- heatedly deny reports that the satellite fell into the Pacific, proclaiming that it's orbiting Earth and transmitting "immortal revolutionary paeans," and carrying the entire broadcast lineup at Air America.
Liberals hysterically insisted during Bush's presidency that the world hated us because of Bush's presidency, yet the world still doesn't adore us and the missile launch happened despite:
-- Obama's granting Al Arabia his first major TV interview.
-- Obama issuing a 'Congratulations, Mullahs!' video to Iran. (The mullahs reciprocated by going to North Korea to watch the missile launch).
-- Obama signing the order to close the terrorist prison at Guantanamo. (Obama bragged that he made headway because the French agreed to take one prisoner.)
-- Obama telling the Pentagon about the need to jeopardize missile defense programs and cut missile defense spending by roughly 20 percent.
-- Obama giving the Saudi King a deep bow for paying his college tuition (the King still wants to see Obama's grades).
-- Obama preparing to give a speech about how wonderful the world would be without nuclear weapons. (You know, like before 1945. Things were so peaceful back then.)
-- Obama going to Strasbourg to surrender to the French.
Liberals had insisted that, since Obama had lived in Indonesia for a few years of his childhood, he had great foreign policy experience. Libbies constantly argued that, according to their insane theory, a "Christian" Obama who had an African Muslim father who abandoned him and his commie white mother would make a great president because that's popular in Iran! And North Korea! And Pakistan! A president who supports infanticide would have an easy go at talking the Iranians out of being evil.
In a powerful display of resolve, Western "leaders" spent the entire day Sunday condemning the missile launch and vowing to squabble at the UN with North Korea. And to pass another harshly-worded resolution for Pyongyang to ignore. Just one more resolution -- that should do it. Watch out, North Korea!
Obama noted that the missile launch underscores his insane view of how important it is for the U.S. to disarm, "for a world without nuclear weapons." And don't worry about the mechanism to verify 'compliance' with nuclear disarmament fantasies. Hans Blix will be on the case.
Whether or not the rocket payload landed in the ocean, Mission Accomplished: Lil' Kim showed he could launch a long-range multi-stage rocket and not even Obama's fearsome Teleprompter could stop him. Not even a YouTube video. From this dry run Kim figures that if he does it again, firing a real bullet next time, nothing will happen again. Hussein sees the whole shebang as just a "distraction" from the far more pressing matter of trying to appear popular. His "popularity" translated into: "U.N. divided over North Korea rocket launch," (Reuters); "China and Russia oppose West's call for robust response," (U.K. Times); "U.N. council meeting on N. Korea ends; no action taken," (Reuters). Obama: I shaved my legs for this?
