Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- Scientists and technicians of the DPRK have succeeded in putting satellite Kwangmyongsong-2, an experimental communications satellite, into orbit by means of carrier rocket Unha-2 under the state long-term plan for the development of outer space.

Unha-2, which was launched at the Tonghae Satellite Launching Ground in Hwadae County, North Hamgyong Province at 11:20 on April 5, Juche 98 (2009), accurately put Kwangmyongsong-2 into its orbit at 11:29:02, nine minutes and two seconds after its launch.

The satellite is going round the earth along its elliptic orbit at the angle of inclination of 40.6 degrees at 490 km perigee and 1 426 km apogee. Its cycle is 104 minutes and 12 seconds.

Mounted on the satellite are necessary measuring devices and communications apparatuses.

The satellite is going round on its routine orbit.

It is sending to the earth the melodies of the immortal revolutionary paeans "Song of General Kim Il Sung" and "Song of General Kim Jong Il" and measured information at 470 MHz. By the use of the satellite the relay communications is now underway by UHF frequency band.

The satellite is of decisive significance in promoting the s

What a joke.

The thing isnt even a poor excuse for crab bait, floating to the bottom of the drink in the Pacific Ocean at about 160 Degrees longitude.

This will be their second "non existent" orbiting satellite in 11 years. The first one they never sent up but said they did was in 1998.

I’ll make a small wager that anyone with a a receiver capable of receiving this “broadcast” will find nothing but static.

Original Korean, from the same site. This is the exact statement read by government spokesmen on Pyongyang Radio about 7:15 p.m. local time last night, and also featured on their 5:00 p.m. local special TV news.:

I believe you'd find almost EVERYONE of the DPNK citizens believes EVERYTHING that comes from their only source of news. It's difficult for us to imagine how totalitarian that regime is. They have TOTAL control of information that flows into and out of the country.

Heh... Obviously, the modern nations can determine whether they were able to actually put a satellite into space...

Are they so backward that they think that it can be faked? Yes, for their people only - and that is all that counts.

The rest of the world laughs at them - but what do they care...

We’re close, not quite there yet, but close.

I think your question raises an interesting and important point. I don't know if they're so backward or deluded with paranoia that they don't understand that a satellite (and a missile for that matter) can be easily tracked by western powers. This is what makes them so incredibly dangerous - are they that stupid, that crazy or that cavalier with the safety of their citizens?

No one knows for sure. People can speculate - and the libs love to speculate that this is all just a ruse to get more aid. But, how can you negotiate with these people when there are so many variables that you just can't account for?

DPNK is on their way to an arsenal of nuclear bombs. They are on their way to a nuclear package that can fit on a warhead. And, they just demonstrated that they're well on the way to a delivery vehicle that can put an IBCM right on Hollywood and Vine. It seems to me that it's their strategy that's working - not ours.

Hey, I’m not disagreeing with the seriousness of their actions, just whether we should take them seriously or not.

I agree with your analysis but have little hope that the rest of the world takes heed.

The people in North Korea all believe they placed a satellite up their yesterday. There was dancing in the streets, people got drunk, there was even a special little folk song made about Taepodong which I saw on their Pyongyang TV news in the evening last night (rebroadcast by Japan TV). It was surrealistic.

Also on another network, on Japanese TV, a Japanese camera crew in China caught two North Koreans hurrying inside the DPRK embassy in Beijing, one yelled out with a big grin, flapping his arms, about the "Great Korean People and this achievement". No way could you tell these people that their little "satellite" which is supposed to be circling above and transmitting the Great General's theme song to the world, in fact is nothing but scrap metal being poked at in Davy Jones' Locker by curious deep sea crabs as we speak.

Now the news is emerging that yesterday NORTH KOREA APPARANTLY GAVE THE UNITED STATES, RUSSIA AND CHINA the exact lift off time IN ADVANCE, but not Japan and S. Korea. I believe this could then have been leaked to South Korea, but I doubt (it remains to be confirmed), if the US even went to the trouble of notifying good ally Japan about this. This exact time of launch was in fact discussed Sunday morning (just before the launch) in the Korean President's national security staff meeting, so they had ample warning.

If this turns out to be true, expect major fireworks from Japan. If I were a US-Forces-in-Japan airman stationed in the US Misawa AB in northern Japan as well, I would be pretty irked if this was not forwarded down the chain of command to both US Forces Japan and the Japanese Defense establishment. So just what did happen, President Obama? Secretary Gates? Secretary Clinton?

Just coming out, was in Japanese as as a top story on Yahoo Japan.

Breaking.

I have a short wave receiver and an excellent antenna and I've been tuned to 470 mhz since early this morning and I've heard nothing but static and an occasional carrier squeal (SSB = Single Side Band), but other than that?

NADA.

Your report has international implications. There are international amateur satellite watching teams around the world, and if possible, I would post your information on line, date monitored, sound quality, frequency, gear used, etc. etc., etc. to further dovetail with the many other reports around the world (no doubt that will be coming in) that they have NO SUCH DPRK SATELLITE UP IN ORBIT and that it is a bunch of lies just like 11 years ago.

What do they think we are here, a bunch of fools??

Dig this!

a) THE RUSSIANS ARE SAYING THAT THERE IS NO SUCH SATELLITE UP BY NORTH KOREA, AS THEY CLAIM.

b) CHINA IS SAYING "IF IT US UP THERE, PLEASE LET US HEAR THE MUSIC YOU CLAIM IT IS PLAYING".

This is great, DPRK getting caught in a CLASSIC BIG LIE, and questioned even by their two biggest supporters who cover for them all the time.

HOW are they going to wiggle out of THIS! ? LOL
