MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican police have captured a leading drug baron from the border city of Ciudad Juarez, the country's most violent town in a turf war that killed 6,300 people last year.

Vicente Carrillo Leyva, a leader of the Juarez cartel, was seized while exercising in a park in an upscale residential district of Mexico City, police said on Thursday.

The Juarez cartel is locked in a bitter war with traffickers from the state of Sinaloa for control of smuggling routes into Texas. The fighting forced the government to send 5,000 extra troops into Ciudad Juarez last month.

It’s like fighting terrorists. Soneone else will just fill the spot vacated by his capture.

Almost better to start at the bottom and work up.

Was he carrying an “assault rifle” with the Bass Pro Shop price tag still on it?

It did have the pro shops tag on it but it was a Phalanx gun and guidance system.

If Mexico had any balls they would execute these parasites instead of capturing them.

Took this pic in Juarez a couple of weeks ago....one wonders why the soldiers stand in a tight group...like they are just waiting for an RPG or grenade.

`Those are cops. Maybe they’re on break. Seriously, though, they do look like sitting ducks. They look like they’re preparing to block a street or something.

NO, they are all soldiers of one sort or another....the cops were removed from Juarez..replaced by the army because of death threats against police.

Look at the shields. What do they say on the front? And the uniforms. The guy scowling at you is definitely a cop, and not a very happy one at that.

Mexico offered a reward of $30 million pesos ($2.1 million) for information leading to the arrest of Vicente Carrillo Leyva back on March 23rd!

Mexico offers $2 million each for top 24 drug lords

No, they took over all the police equipment...riot shields...cars...stations...everything.

I live here...there are nothing but a few unarmed traffic cops left...that’s it in all of Juarez.

If Mexico had any balls they would execute these parasites instead of capturing them.

Like they do in this compassionate politically correct former republic.
