Conservatives are big financiers of the spread of socialism by nonprofits. Bigger even than billionaire George Soros.
There are tens of thousands of liberal nonprofits on the public dole. Conservatives tend to focus attention and even outrage on a few large and notorious taxpayer-funded nonprofits such as ACORN, Planned Parenthood and AARP. That focus, though, is too myopic.
Liberals know how to use nonprofits to "change" America. With the daily bombardment against our free-market, constitutional senses by the Obama-Pelosi-Reid regime, we may be ignoring the nonprofit foundation of their comprehensive socialist agenda. And conservatives are helping to pay for it, both against our will and volitionally even if unwittingly.
Nonprofits have a unique and profound influence on the American people and culture. Think about the many roles of nonprofits in society and our families' daily lives: churches, educational institutions, unions, health and medical care charities, youth outlets such as Boys and Girls Clubs, pet rescue and placement groups, etc.
During our lifetimes most Americans voluntarily associate with, and are personally affected by, dozens of nonprofits, yet we tend to underestimate their impact on public policy and our other institutions. Nonprofits help shape nearly every aspect of American society.
In public policy, nonprofits advocate nationally, and lobby at the federal and state levels. Within local communities, liberal nonprofits indoctrinate school children towards socialism and away from free markets, organize illegal aliens and otherwise promote liberal agendas.
Through our tax dollars conservatives not only finance liberal advocacy by the nonprofits, but help pay the salaries of liberal nonprofit employees, enough of whom are Democratic activists off the clock and who disdain conservatives.

There are so many non-profits which don’t deserve to exist. They are often one-lawyer shops designated as “monitors” for some government bribery function. And the author is correct: the staff of them are always heavily liberal.
Take dam relicensing. There are so many fingers in the pot that rate payers subsidize. Besides the usual humongous payoff to an Indian reservation or two, there are environmental “monitors” whose sole source of income is the ratepayer largesse.
Know who you are giving your money to.
It is tax money. The most important employee in any non-profit is the grants facilitator. There is probably a non-profit *board* with *development* in its name in every township and county. Go to their meetings and you find them funding various precursors to various green initiatives. Besides the stated, overt goals, they exist to employ progressives with degrees in areas like land-use planning and environmental biology. It is actually community organizing and those who work there go on to legislative staff positions and even political office. They start at the township, county and municipal level.
Remember CETA? That program, under Carter, planted a million seeds for this sort of foundation to the takeover.
The article is correct. This foundation of the coup under which we are now suffering has been around for 40 years or longer. There are so many non-profits, dedicated to so many different areas, no one even notices them, anymore.
BTTT Good article!

THE BRIEFING ROOM
THE WHITE HOUSE
Office of the Press Secretary

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 5, 2009
President Obama to Request $50 Million to Identify and Expand Effective, Innovative Non-Profits
White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation to Coordinate Efforts
WASHINGTON President Barack Obama, in his FY2010 budget, will ask Congress to provide $50 million in seed capital for the Social Innovation Fund to identify the most promising, results-oriented non-profit programs and expand their reach throughout the country.
Many solutions to our nations most challenging social problems are being generated outside of Washington; the Social Innovation Fund will identify what is working in communities across the country, provide growth capital for these programs, and improve the use of data and evaluation to raise the bar on what programs the government funds.
“The idea is simple: to find the most effective programs out there and then provide the capital needed to replicate their success in communities around the country that are facing similar challenges,” First Lady Michelle Obama will say Tuesday at the Time 100 Most Influential People Awards in New York City, according to her prepared remarks. “By focusing on high-impact, result-oriented non-profits, we will ensure that government dollars are spent in a way that is effective, accountable and worthy of the public trust.”
Melody Barnes, Assistant to the President and Director of the Domestic Policy Council, also highlighted the Fund Tuesday in a keynote speech to the Council on Foundations. “The Social Innovation Fund reflects the Presidents new governing philosophy: finding and investing in what works; and partnering with and supporting others who are leading change in their communities,” Barnes said. “We are also working with Federal agencies across the government to identify new solutions to problems that have resisted traditional approaches.”
The Social Innovation Fund was authorized in the recent Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act. The Fund will focus on priority policy areas, including education, health care, and economic opportunity. It will partner with foundations, philanthropists, and corporations which will commit matching resources, funding, and technical assistance.
The White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation will coordinate efforts to enlist all Americans individuals, non-profits, social entrepreneurs, corporations and foundations as partners in solving our great challenges. Located within the Domestic Policy Council, it will:
Catalyze partnerships between the government and nonprofits, businesses and philanthropists in order to make progress on the Presidents policy agenda
Identify and support the rigorous evaluation and scaling of innovative, promising ideas that are transforming communities like, for example, Harlem Childrens Zone, YouthVillages, Nurse-Family Partnership, and Citizen Schools.
Support greater civic participation through new media tools
Promote national service.
Mrs. Obamas full remarks at the Time 100 Most Influential People Awards in New York City will be released later in the day.

I was thinking the exact same thing mojitojoe.
These non-profits take my money involuntarily, through taxes.
Yes, large numbers of the Leftist non-profits are funded from the Federal Government: think ACORN.
Real good point!
