The Polish government plans to strengthen Poland's military contingent in Afghanistan this spring, Defense Minister Bogdan Klich said on Wednesday.
"We have already started work on a related motion to the president," the minister was quoted as saying by Polish news agency PAP.
An additional 400 soldiers will be deployed in Afghanistan, where Poland commands the province of Ghazni, reported daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza. Poland currently has 1,600 soldiers in that country.
According to the defense minister, the increase could be possible at the turn of May and June when the 5th shift of Polish soldiers would leave for Afghanistan.
He stressed the need for agreement on the number of additional troops with the final decision belonging to the president.
Klich added that Poland would also send to Afghanistan additional choppers and Rosomak armored troop carriers.
Wonder if Obonus will have the good graces to thank the Poles?
Perhaps he’ll send them some DVDs.
The Poles will soon find out that 2,000 troops supporting our effort in Afghanistan means little to this President. When it comes to dealing with Ivan, 0bama will throw the Poles under the bus in a heartbeat.
Man, I’m tellin’ ya, the Poles have been stand-up allies in this fight!! God bless them all. I’d like to know more about the units involved and some pix.
Yepper
God bless the Poles!
