Mexican drug cartels use a “blood wire” to send money to drug and human smugglers, according to Arizona’s attorney general, who testified earlier this week before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
“Western Union is by far the largest provider of illicit money-movement services, so it is the source of valuable information about illicit money movements and has been the focus of interdiction efforts aimed at criminal proceeds in transit,” Terry Goddard, Arizona’s attorney general, told senators.
Goddard was one of several witnesses who testified March 17 before the Judiciary Committee and the Senate International Narcotics Control Caucus on law enforcement responses to Mexican drug cartels.
“Organized, cross-border crime between Mexico and Arizona is concentrated on trafficking in illegal drugs, humans and weapons,” Goddard said, “and each of these activities involves the movement of money.”
“In the effort to secure our border and protect our communities, we have learned that no single law enforcement agency, federal, state or local, has the manpower or expertise to combat our highly organized and sophisticated antagonists alone," Goddard said in a prepared statement for the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs. "We must work together to go after the head of the monster. This means cutting off the financial resources and dismantling the leadership of the violent criminal cartels operating on both sides of the border.
“The most effective method of combating human smuggling is to block the flow of funds to the organized criminal cartels," Goddard stated. "The Arizona Attorney General's Office has aggressively pursued these 'blood wires' sent through Western Union and other money transmitters for over six years. In doing so, we have successfully moved millions of dollars in smuggling proceeds out of Arizona."
His office has seized more than $17 million in wire payments and arrested more than 100 smugglers,

Curbing or taxing ALL money wire transfers from the U.S. to Mexico (and other countries) could also drastically discourage(and slash) ALL illegal immigration to the U.S.
American citizens, or permanent residents with verifiable green card, legal resident status, AND social security card the ONLY ONES allowed to wire money outside of the United States. Write it into law ASAP. No illegals nor tourists on US soil able to utilize these functions of banks or Western Union.
Hmmm. If obie would take over Western Union and put it under control of the White House, he would have a great tool for putting more bucks in the campaign coffers.

THE STORY THUS FAR America ends up subsidizing illegal Third World undesirables who rape and kill, molest our kids, rob our businesses, and cause multiple deadly car wrecks.
They are salivating to get their hands on trillions of US tax dollars. Echos of Mideast greed resound south of the border.
Conniving Third World governments are pepetrating a con to get US dollars flowing into the pockets of greedy federales and drug lords. All under the guise of "stopping" the drug wars. BIG CLUE they are now using children as foils.
The espanolas are using the same playbook as Mideast connivers----the well-worn chapter entititled "How To Dupe the US Into Pouring Trillions Into Your Country."
The con job entails faking that they can't govern....that they are "helpless victims."
This con sure works good in the Mideast---some of those lowlifes have been operating for years and are STILL too stupid to govern themselves.....UNLESS US tax dollars are pouring in.

CON ALERT Now watch the espanolas use tried and true Mideast cons to get US tax dollars flowing:
1. Victimization----never fails.
2. Baiting "enemies" of the US to attack their Third World hellholes (or, more precisely, people THEY claim are US enemies) in order to dupe the US to step in, and step up the dollar flow.
3. Sending espanola government agents masquerading as drug lords into the countryside to foment unrest.
4. Populating the US with espanola government agents to agitate for US govt involvement to trigger the flow of US tax dollars.
Drug cartels or no, I'd rather the government just stay the heck out of it. Is there anything necessarily illegal about wiring money out of the country? No, though it admittedly looks a little suspicious. Moreover, the part about the social security card bugs me. The Social Security Card should not be further used as an identification card, as it has been since 1936 when it was introduced, but "NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION". We are heading rapidly towards the time when we will hear the words that make the hearts of fascists and communists every where flutter: "Papers, please!".
