A fairly impressive internet industry has sprung up claiming that Obama was born in either Kenya or Indonesia. This is nonsense which distracts from the broadly unexplored story of Obama’s upbringing. This kind of nonsense has emerged because the McCain campaign chose not to raise the many questions about Barack Obama’s numerous hard-left alliances. Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, August 4, 1961 at Kapiolani Medical Center in Honolulu.

Why won't he produce it? It suits his purposes to have us waste energy on something that will not do anything to get him out of office or stop his agenda, while looking like moonbats in the process.

It might be worth his time to have us chasing our tails while he is dismantling the economy. If he can make this go away if it becomes too inconvenient and it keeps us distracted from the clear and present danger that a socialist America-hater poses to our country, Obama and Pelosi may benefit from the questions.

I don't claim to understand Obama's mind, or even to be sure whether he has one, but I think we need to be careful how we divide our attention. Obama is doing exceptionally grave damage to the security and the future of the United States, and the birth certificate issue may be a dead end that will distract us from more productive options (if they exist).

I haven’t pulled up any of the more recent filings, but I did take a look at the papers in Berg’s initial case in Pennsylvania. The main issue turned on the question of constitutional standing. The issue would have been researched and briefed by both sides. And you can be sure that Obama and the DNC would not be hiring someone as pedestrian as Obama himself (who you may recall was a constitutional law lecturer at U of Chicago), but there can be no doubt that behind the scenes is a small group of highly regarded and expensive constitutional lawyers calling the shots for Obama and the DNC and giving directions to local counsel in the various jurisdictions.

The quest for the birth certificate did not come about because of questions of Obama's eligibility. It came about in April of 2008 because reporters from the St. Petersberg Times were trying to debunk an internet rumor that Obama's middle name was really Mohammed. They scoured the internet for any documents about Obama that they could find, and then asked the campaign for a copy of his birth certificate. It was at that point that the campaign refused to release his birth certificate.

Everything else flowed from his refusal to release that document.
