The reports most controversial passage states that militia most commonly associate with third-party political groups and support presidential candidates such as Ron Paul, former Constitutional Party candidate Chuck Baldwin and Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate last year.
Not everybody agrees. At a Tea Party to protest wasteful government spending Thursday in Flat Branch Park, several people displaying the Revolutionary War-replica Dont Tread On Me flag were upset to learn the MIAC report lists the banner as a militia symbol.

According to MIAC, opposition to world government, NAFTA, federalization of the states, and restrictive gun laws are a threat to the police. The militia subscribes to an anti-government and NWO mindset, which creates a threat to law enforcement officers. They view the military, National Guard, and law enforcement as a force that will confiscate their firearms and place them in FEMA concentration camps, the document claims in a section entitled You are the Enemy.

I wonder if this report mentions actual domestic terrorism that has been carried out by leftist groups like Earth First and the ALF.

So, the implicit assumption from MIAC is that these things will occur, or be pushed to the point where armed reaction occurs?

>> Do militiamen “tend” to join the NRA? << No, they tend to join the Second Amendment Foundation. The NRA is too liberal for people who won't be happy until the Constitution is fully restored from exile.

The shameful aspect of this “intelligence” is that it misdirects LEO energy in unfruitful directions.
One caller to the local Columbia radio station remarked that most murderers and pedophiles who voted probably voted for either a Republican or Democrat. So, statistically speaking, a McCain or Obama bumper sticker is more meaningful than one this report identifies as radical.
(Speaking of statistics, anyone seen Driving While Black has an 80% probability of being an Obama voter, is that pertinent to the topic?)
I am going to write a nasty-gram to the head of the MO Hwy Patrol and suggest if they really wanted to break new ground, they could start collecting real data in the form of photos of the rear bumpers of all the perps from now on, and they could correlate that to whatever real crimes these real perps had done.
This would be a productive change from perpetuating culture stereotypes that sadly pervades some gung-ho people in “security”. Happily, it is a lot easier at the state level to persuade cooler heads to prevail. At the federal level, we get the thinking that lead to Ruby Ridge and Waco instead.

Yeah its pretty funny they'll profile a bunch of white guys with a "Don't Tread on Me," but a bunch of muslims in head gear can board a plane unabated while granny is getting a flashlight and cold finger discount.
