EU slaps duties on U.S. biodiesel imports EU panel approves duties on U.S. biodiesel European Union trade panel approved on Tuesday temporary anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties on imports of biodiesel from the United States, sources with knowledge of the decision said. "It went through with no problem,"
one source told Reuters on condition of anonymity after a meeting of the EU's anti-dumping committee of 27 national trade diplomats. From March 13, U.S. firms exporting biodiesel into the EU will have to pay additional tariffs for an initial six months, ranging from 26 euros ($32.88) to 41 euros per 100 kg. Also per 100 kg, Archer Daniels Midland will face duties of 26 euros, Cargill 27 euros, Imperium Renewables 29 euros, Green Earth Energy Fuels 28 euros and World Energy Alternatives 29 euros. THE TRUTH about trade

The beginnings of a trade war perhaps?
Whew...I’m sure glad those friendly Europeans are big believers in “Free Trade”.
we have ONE vote at the WTO, they have 27 vote
One of the big points of free trade is that the government of the producing company shouldn’t subsidize the product in order to drive down its price. We don’t enforce that enough, but we are subsidizing biodiesel and exporting it so we should expect it to get a retaliatory tariff on it.
So does that mean that companies like Airbus and the Asian gov. backed corporations have tariffs slapped on their products?
“26 euros ($32.88) to 41 euros per 100 kg.”
how much does a gallon of diesel fuel weigh ... The most commonly used weight for diesel is 7.3 lb per US gallon (0.9 kg / liter). ...

pretty damned steep tarrif
So about $0.32/liter or about a $1.00/gallon tarriff.
GOOD BY GM THANK TOO NAFTA VIDEO http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/lou/video/x2a7gh_lou-dobbs-china-manufacture-in-mexi_news
1.00 EUR = 1.25436 USD
41 Euro = $51.43 per 100kg
7.3# gal / 2.2 = 3.318 Kg per gal
100Kg/3.318 = 30.139 gal per 100Kg
$51.43 / 30.139 = $1.73/gal
$32.88 / 30.139 = $1.09/gal

Another day, another market sector TRASHED !!!
Yet another brick to usher in the next Great Depression...
Same logic the US has used to put tariffs on imported (dumped) foreign steel.
Fossil fuels are (used to be?) insanely cheap compared to the competition. Biofuels are only able to compete with government subsidies. Even a plant to convert leftover chicken parts (which are close to zero cost) has a price of ~$70/barrel oil.
However, ethanol is good at increasing octane levels of gasoline.
Truth and Robert Byrd? Together? LOL.
The octane rating of gasoline is not a reflection of its energy content, only its resistance to detonation. Higher compression engines allow a higher fuel consumption rate however they are more susceptible to damage from early fuel detonation. Therefore they require a higher octane rating. Gasoline companies have done a great job of making us think high octane means more energy content, but actually the energy content and miles per gallon is the same. Adding more expensive ethanol to gasoline however greatly decreases its energy content and miles per gallon.
what are you nuts
I don’t know what you’re trying to say you’ll have to be less vague.
