I just saw it, and I liked it. I bought the comics years ago when they first came out so I'm an old fan, and I was pleasantly surprised at what a good job they did with material that many people thought was probably unfilmable.

Certainly not a movie for kids: language, nudity, sex scenes, attempted rape, maiming, lots of blood. I like action movies (Dark Knight, Terminator, Japanese Samurai movies, etc.) but I stay away from slasher movies -- and I'd have to say that this was the bloodiest movie I've ever seen in my 50 years. Didn't bother me too much, but it's something to behold.

Dr. Manhattan's tenuous relationship with humanity is well done. Rohrschach was always a fine character and is a marvel in the movie. Nite Owl and Silk Spectre were both surprisingly good.

I won't say that the movie comes to any deep, useful philosophical conclusions. I think (based on 1 viewing) that any "message" may be a bit muddled. But it does explore interesting ground. What bad things would you do in order to "do the right thing"? Rohrschach has an answer. The main bad guy has an answer. Two very different answers. The Comedian, and his relations with others is really deep -- we're dealing with flawed people here, just like life, and it's interesting to see what people know, what they understand, what they tolerate (or not) and what they are willing to forgive. Like I say: there aren't any deep wonderful answers here, but this is an adult movie, dealing with adult themes (I mean that in several ways).

So much of Hollywood seems aimed at 10 year olds. This is a more serious movie than most, and that's refreshing.

I ended up going from definitely planning to go (on the basis of the trailers) to disappointedly deciding not to go (on the basis of this review, and other confirmations).

It isn’t that she says, “Ooh, yucky, I’m a girl and I didn’t like it, and you’re bad if you do!”

It is that she LISTS OUT what’s in the movie, what I’d have to watch. So I decided... pass.

You don’t mind facilitating your husband seeing other people have sex? I can’t imagine any woman encouraging her husband to watch a naked woman come to orgasm in front of him. But you’re free to enjoy that perversity with your husband if you’d like.

Yes, I read a few reviews. So I don’t waste money on things. Do you ever consider looking at reviews?

It’s a good adaptation of very difficult material. Not perfect, Zack did definitely add some unnecessary violence that wasn’t in the story. But over all interesting and entertaining, and great to see some of my favorite images from the book all big screen.

Whatever! I like comics. I watched Iron Man, X-Men, both Batman movies, I will see the Wolverine movie. Hey, you’re right. I am free to watch that perversity with my husband if I like. I will think of your kind wishes when I pass him the Junior Mints.

Maybe make sure to pass it to him when the female character is having her orgasm, after a nude romp. Might help him not think about her as much, or compare her with you.

I’m not sure why you are being so catty ,Theo, but let me assure you, I’m hot. So even if that lady is on the screen doing her thing, my husband will be thinking of me when he holds me in his arms later on in the evening. Maybe you should consider taking your wife to the movie. Maybe it will spark something new since she has such a prudish spouse.
