Oh looky! A turncoat Pubbie turned Democrat "Bushie". I wonder whether the Dems will make a huge circus about him as they did with every Republican... *cough*

I don’t think Tom Schieffer was ever a Republican. He’s a life-long Democrat as far as I know and can remember going back to at least the 1990s.

Last year, Ron Paul kook Bob Conley of South Carolina announced he was leaving the GOP because the party wouldn't sing Kumbaya with terrorists, and becoming a RAT who would caucus with Harry Reid. He then ran for the U.S. Senate as a RAT and won the RAT primary in a fluke. His big campaign issue was to surrender in Iraq immediately and "bring the troops home".
Interestingly enough, not only did some freepers continue to support the guy, but they argued he was the "true conservative" in the race (despite the fact his Republican opponent was a staunch supporter of the WOT).

GWB in my opinion was a Democrat, he sure made Obama’s chance at being elected a sure thing. The Republicans have reaped what they sowed.

Question for Texas FReepers: Will Hutchison pose a serious challenge to Perry in the primary, and will this clown Schieffer (or any TX Dem) be a serious threat in the general.
I would think with the Republican bent of Texas and the fact that it will be a mid-term election, Republicans should have the winds blowing their way.
I can’t imagine Obama or Democrats being popular in Texas right now, or in 2010.
