For those of you tracking these polls, it's interesting watching the "strongly disapprove" slowly inch towards parity with the "strongly approve" figure. Remarkably, nothing about Obama has changed. He is doing what all of us said he would do--drastically expand the government, spend like a drunken sailor on shore leave, enlarge the welfare state, and do nothing to ease the tax burden (his "tax cut" rebate this year is taxable income, in case ya didn't know, but this is not the thread to discuss Obama's tax plans).

The only thing that's changed is the American people. After being assured by the media for over a year that Obama was the second coming of Reagan and JFK, people are slowly, ever so slowly, learning what he's all about. Tax, spend, tax, spend.

BTW, it's good for these numbers to move in our direction, but don't get too excited. Remember, a year before Reagan's 84 landslide reelection, his approval rating was 35%. If Obama waits to raise taxes (deficit spending is merely tax postponement, after all), the economy could very well start to substantially grow again, Obama will get credit by the sheeple, get reelected in a landslide, and the economy won't start tanking again until his second term.

That's just one scenario. Stay positive. Keep spreading the word to everyone you know. Discuss Obama's policies with friends and relatives, educate yourself, don't perpetuate myths (CONFIRM something before sending it in an email). The key to defeating Obama is to make his policies known. Don't let the media continue to define him.

Yes but there is no real opposition from Republicans. The Republican party is in a total collapse and the leadership is a joke. So what good will it do?

No, no, no. Rush’s speach pulled it all out of the grave the other day at CPAC. Somebody told me that Rush “crossed the finish line.” So the GOP is alright from here on out. . . Constitutional, conservative, and in control of its policies thorugh its wonderful chairman.

The Democrats were openly discussing the possibility of being a permanent minority party just three years ago. Things can change.

We do not have three years. They will take over everything by then.

Don’t overestimate their abilities. These boobs have made a lot of slip-ups lately. Just look at how many Obama appointees had to back out. These people have big goals but they are largely winging it.

Fear not! From 1977 until 1981 the democrats had “taken over everything”. Ronald Reagan made them give it back!

Have you considered they may be meeting their goals. What if the goal is the elimination of free enterprise and a totalitarian communist state.

I don’t think so. I think what these idiots want is something like what they do in Europe—a mixed economy with high taxes to pay for the welfare state. If it makes you feel better, know that these things can be undone, and fairly quickly. They are going to over-reach like crazy and in 2010 suffer humiliating setbacks at the polls.

The aura of Obama is beginning to wear off. The ‘maharushi’ (Rush Limbaugh) has spoken. Clarity, I believe, finally made a breakthrough in America.

Meanwhile, the poll also says:

“Fifty-six percent (56%) say that Obama is a good or an excellent leader.”

That one leaves me scratching my head. 0bama hasn’t done anything to bear that out. Ah, well... it must be the adoration effect.

A heart surgeon once told me, perfect is the enemy of good.
No, the GOP is so not perfect, but it is a functioning organization that hopefully we can work within to stop Obama. It’s what we have to work with...now.

Your ideas on retaking America were missing from your post. We’re all waiting to hear some constructive thoughts.

You may say that I offer no specifics, but I will say this for now:

The Republican Party has now reached a point at which it will not return to its historic principles unless a sense rises up in the heart of the party that it can be replaced. And it must be made to feel that there are sufficient numbers of Republicans who are willing to replace it if necessary.

With regard to leadership, the party must install a chairman who will not unduly criticize or condemn people (especially in the media) who (even though he may disagree on some specifics)are standing up for the party's historic positions, as Steele apparently is willing to condemn men.

Right now the Republican Party must absolutely be obstructionist in Congress, because they would be obstructing Marxist socialism. Those who are willing to bare sharpened incisors against the leftist movement in Congress at this time should be put forward.

I do share your frustration. And thank you for input. I hope there are SOME good senators and representatives serving... (saw Tom Colburn stated he will go to jail before performing an abortion.)

John McCain certainly dealt a blow of dismay to our party in so many ways.
