Obama's Straw Men

Why does he routinely ascribe to opponents views they don't espouse?

President Barack Obama reveres Abraham Lincoln. But among the glaring differences between the two men is that Lincoln offered careful, rigorous, sustained arguments to advance his aims and, when disagreeing with political opponents, rarely relied on the lazy rhetorical device of "straw men." Mr. Obama, on the other hand, routinely ascribes to others views they don't espouse and says opposition to his policies is grounded in views no one really advocates.

"Why does he routinely ascribe to opponents views they don't espouse?"

An Alinskyite tactic.

The left uses it quite well.

One of the consequences of being an empty suit, is having to borrow from or mimic other peoples lives so as to have their own personality. Parasitic or delusional?

Because he can get away with it....and his worshippers don't know any better because ABCNBCCBSCNN won't tell them.

Continually characterizing those who disagree with you in a fundamentally dishonest way can be the sign of a person who lacks confidence in the merits of his ideas.

0bama is a congenital liar for starters. He also uses this technique intentionally to create divisions amongst the American people. But the biggest reason he employs intrinsically dishonest straw man arguments is that it is all he has in his intellectual bag of tricks.

That's why a Harvard Law grad becomes a community organizer instead of a lawyer. It wasn't altruism. Just ask the people in the south Chicago neighborhood that he trashed.

I think Obama honest to God, believes in his straw men. I think he has a distorted view of the loyal opposition in this country. Anyone who doesn’t share his faculty lounge/radical associates viewpoints is distorted into an unrealistic foe. He believe it. That is the mental sickness he has.

Yes, I think you're probably right. But one doesn't employ such fundamentally dishonest tactics and not know that they are doing so. Maybe he justifies that with another traditional leftist meme, which is also false; that conservatives are fundamentally dishonest too.

But, if so, that is intellectually lazy. The true bottom line between leftist ideology and conservative ideology isn't about personal honesty or a lack thereof. When you cut deeper than that you find that one is compatible with the Constitution and one is not.

Everything else is just political strategy, honest or dishonest. Wise or unwise. It naturally follows, however, that if you are defending and promoting that which is alien to the foundation you will have to use some form of deception.

This is typical throning activity that muslims and the muslim method of warfare espouses.

They can’t muster the courage or intelligence of former wise ones, so they usurp.

also tellatale is that they always mention great warriors or personalities involved in wars: Reaganesque for the Cold War legacy and economic monumentalizing of America - a throne, and Lincolnesque because of the Civil War.

Next thing you know he’ll mention Napoleon and Jesus for himself but would never take the stone like the latter.

I’d take the death by stone for my sins if it rid America of the f@g plague on our children for the good of America, but like all weaklings, Obama will not take the stones because he does not have any.

... and indeed, the “straw man” argument. Obama will continue to offload his actions unto others to keep is “supremacy in sneakiness”, causing problems and making others responsible for it, just as Congress bit his bills.

Now Sen. Byrd whines he has too much power. Sen. Byrd is not worried about the Constitution or too much power in Obama, but in his off loading responsibility unto Congress while taking legislative actions of his own from the executive seat.

The Ksars of Obama are the Mohamedian “interpreters” of the laws.

It’s nice to see Karl still posting. I’d be happy to conclude any of this will make any difference, but I’m not sure that publicly announcing our opposition will do more than make us nails for the Hammer.

I’d suggest it’s better to discuss these things in camera.

Absolutely true. Good point. This needs to be more commonly recognized.

“Lincoln had an average intelligence, Obama comes up short.”
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

You don’t understand the scoring. Obama is a graduate of Harvard law who claims to be “African American” and is a Democrat politician of the far left, a follower of Karl Marx. Thus any IQ at all qualifies him as a “super genius”. He has, I believe, demonstrated the ability to dress himself in the morning, thus qualifying as a monumental super genius of the highest order and saviour of mankind.
