WASHINGTON – The Democratic-controlled House approved $410 billion legislation Wednesday that boosted domestic programs, bristled with earmarks and chipped away at policies left behind by the Bush administration. The vote was 245-178, largely along party lines.

“The same people who drove the economy into the ditch are now complaining about the size of the tow truck,” said Rep. James McGovern, D-Mass., pointing out the large increase in deficits that President George W. Bush and GOP-controlled Congresses amassed.”

The liars have successfully stuck this on the republicans (even when they had control of the house in 2006) and the lemmings believe it. They will spend their way into buying every vote they can. It’s over, they can laugh their way to hell!

16 Republicans voted for this thing, while 20 Dems voted against.

We have to stop the bleeding in 2010!

I find interesting the emphasis on the earmarks. While they are obviously a problem, they amount to $3.8 billion (accrording to Taxpayers for CommOn Sense) in the proposed $410 billion budget bill. Supposing the democrats were somehow humiliated into taking them out, we would still have a bill over $400 billion. I know that it is easy to mock many of these expenditures, but they are not what is driving the growth in government spending. I get the feeling this is an easy way out for Republicans in Congress to attack the bill and look fiscally conservative without having to really have to do anything about the growth in spending in the bill itself.

“16 Republicans voted for this thing”

Like I said this morning on a thread. The RINOs (there are no longer and Republicans) are giving in slowly but surely.

Guess they figure “When in Rome”

It’s a lot easier than standing for something doncha know. Bunch of cowards.

Overall, the legislation would provided increases of roughly 8 percent for the federal agencies it covered, about $32 billion more than last year.

While those footing the bill resort to cost-cutting measures, government agencies get an increase at twice the inflation rate for 2008.

In my business, no customers are buying. I have to tell my folks that there is no work, and fewer days of work a week, but the federal social worker gets new office equipment and a raise.

...bristled with earmarks...

Hey, hey, HEY!! Define earmark, please! One man's earmark is another man's...spending appropriation...or something like that....

Seriously, the dems can't help themselves. Kids in a candy store, etc. I can't wait to see what happens in two years (if we make it that long).

Hell, you don’t even the trees anymore. Just type a number on your keyboard, add - in plenty o’ zeros, point and click. Presto! You’ve just “made” money, if you have the right user ID and your click sends the number to the right place...

More like bulls in a china shop. There will be nothing left of America after these ill-liberal loons are done.
