It's over for Nova M - the liberal talknet files for bankruptcy

The loss of star personality Randi Rhodes and the health of one of its founders was too much for Nova M Radio to bear. Started just 2 years ago as an alternative to Air America, Nova M was reportedly losing $100,000 a month (per the Wall Street Journal), and the loss of Rhodes meant the loss of a large majority of their affiliates.

In addition, Nova M co-founder Sheldon Drobny has been hospitalized with a heart condition, something his wife, Anita Drobny claimed was due to the stress of running the company. As for the dispute that led to Rhodes' exit – Thursday’s Wall Street Journal reports that Nova M “was supposed to have promised to cover certain legal costs for Ms. Rhodes. But she quit after discovering that her employment contract didn’t offer such indemnification.” Rhodes remains off the air, and affiliates have been scrambling to replace her. Ironically, one former affiliate, WJNO-AM (1290) in West Palm Beach, Florida put the syndicated Sean Hannity in her time slot.

Also the liberal talk radio blog offers more of the WSJ article and quotes Anita Drobny as saying, "There were so many wealthy progressives out there that could have made [progressive radio] happen,'-- but they didn't want to help. "It ended up being on Sheldon's shoulders."

Anita Drobny as saying, "There were so many wealthy progressives out there that could have made [progressive radio] happen

Public school mentality, money over content/substance. Liberal thought is mental disability.

As for the “progressives” out there, as Howie Carr would say, when it came to helping support libtalk radio, “they threw around quarters like they were manhole covers”. Probably were just smart enough to
realize it would be a bad investment! Who’s listen?

It's great, I'm down here in WJNO territory. The line up is now: Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin. I'm in heaven!!

"WJNO-AM (1290) in West Palm Beach, Florida put the syndicated Sean Hannity in Rhodes' time slot."

I would just love to have a two way AM radio to hear the comments from her listeners when Hannity comes on.

Poor business model. The paradigm is “Find a need and fill it.”, NOT “Find hate and pander to it.”.................

Don’t worry, the libs in Congress will pass a law making conservative talk radio illegal and ONLY liberal talk radio will be allowed to be broadcasted.

And you WILL listen to it! By order of the State.

I checked Nova M’s website and it said they are announcing the formation of a new liberal radio network ‘On Second Thought Radio”. I wonder how long this one will last and what will replace it? http://www.novamradio.com/live/

>>Started just 2 years ago as an alternative to Air America, Nova M<<

That was smart - since Air America was doing so well, divide the market /sarc
