This is obviously a way to ban guns from the hands of honest, law-abiding responsible people
Criminals are not going to buy insurance!

Can you see the insurance application?
Employment _________________criminal
Last residence _____________federal prison

But then that’s the intention of all these gun laws anyway! Take guns from honest people and deliberately leave them in the hands of criminals.

I’ll dig around. I’m betting for a typical 45/M low risk, handgun, 2-3x sporting rifles, shotgun, $5-700/year zone.

I work the P/C side of the fence. This would be easy to add to a Homeowners policy, and likely for far less than your extimate - I would guess a $100 annual charge, on top of the costs for increasing the base liability coverage to $1,000,000 (which is available on most Homeowners policies).

However: The law would be blatantly unconstitutional, and Homeowners policies exclude "intentional acts", which could be construed by juries to encompass any use of a firearm.

A shooter answering police would say "I thought he was going to kill me. I didn't mean to shoot him, the gun went off accidentally. I want to speak with my lawyer."

If I shoot someone who is crawling into my bedroom window in the middle of the night, is that a “willful act”?

The answer lies here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2187817/posts

"A federal jury on Tuesday ruled that an Arizona rancher did not violate the civil rights of 16 Mexican nationals he detained at gunpoint after they had snuck illegally into the United States in 2004, but the jury awarded $78,000 in actual and punitive damages to six of the illegal immigrants on claims of assault and infliction of emotional distress..."

It would appear that criminals who suffer even emotional distress (never mind getting shot) by being caught in the act, are awarded damages for it.

“Probably in fine print it says:

Only honest peasants pay. “

Sheeeeesh....the BIG, plain print says that!!

Up is down...down is up, etc.
Good is evil and evil is good.
Hard work gets punished and slackers and greedy get rewarded.
Honesty makes you foolish and dishonesty makes you a victim.

You think that cheap? Actually, adding it on to a homeowners policy would make complete sense and I could see it minimally raising your premium.

But now I wonder about a stand alone product for the non-homeowner.

How about forcing owners of telephones and computers to have 1 million in “libel and defamation insurance?”

Nah, that would not be a violation of the 1st amd.

OMG. Now I’m getting it. The Left will not take away our 2nd Amendment rights per se, instead they’ll just make it so we can’t afford ammunition; or in this case, raise insurance rates !!

Get out your pitchforks. It’s time to march on each State Capitol.

Let’s roll.

I wonder what the annual premium would be on a $1.0 mil personal liability ins product, and what the risk measurements would be when rating an applicant.

I have a $5M umbrella policy and the cost is ~$250/year. The company considers their largest exposure to be automobile accidents, which is probably true.

All states get away with unconstitutional stuff regarding 2A because it has not been "incorporated".

In many ways, I hope this passes. There would be a lawsuit, and the likely result would be incorporation of the 2A against the states.

We want doofus gun laws to come before the Supremes while we still have enough votes to get good decisions.

It’s time to march on each State Capitol.

Why?

When it comes to guns the only vote that counts is the Mayor of Chicago.

I’ve still held back to those who have guns and yet voted for phony.

course I feel the same way about those who in PA got attacked and still voted for him, those who say they are catholic and voted for him plus those who say they are religious and yet have no problem with homosexuals because they know one or two.
(wait until they see what their so called friends get up to when they are with their own kind)

Wouldn’t it be nice if the Second Amendment had protections like the civil rights laws do? If you blink in the direction of infringing on civil rights (related to race), you’re history. When it comes to the Second Amendment, you can do just about anything short of hitting a gun owner over the head with a sledge hammer, and it’s just fine.

Anyway, this thing has been sent off to the Rules Committee.
Usually it would die a slow death there.

why not just really come out with what they really want

ACORN thugs, chicago thugs, black panthers and the nation of islam can be armed. For those who follow the law, not rich but working class(never heard that word in the election)believe in this country and is proud of the constitution etc etc etc must be unarmed at all costs.

Ist and 2nd must be closed down by either PC, new laws or in the end by force otherwise the Marxist agenda shall never really take over

I was just going to ask what his connections to the insurance industry were.

That is most likely where this originates.

He’s got some insurance industry connection/kickback.

about time citizens did sue the Govt of that state.

If I am shot by a gang banger, crazed man /women , mugger etc and I am not allowed to have concealed carry or the right to self defence in some states then why couldn’t I sue that state.

It’s the same for civil unions, homo’s can have them but normal straight folk cannot. sounds to me discrimination from the state.

then there is affirmative action, why on earth is that still going now?

shootings are high up there in chicago, crime is high, unemployment is high so why not a dress that instead?

Course it shows how thick they are up there when the markets drop and still phony signs a bill and then tells us how great is is while I can see the market on the right side of the TV going down
