Shouldn’t the law then also require the state to have insurance on every illegal gun? So when a criminal uses it against a law abiding citizen, you could sue the state’s insurance company? Tit for Tat.
The premium’s cost could be deducted from welfare payments, since those are the people using the illegal guns.
SUCKERS!
Bend over and grab your ankles!
Shouldn’t the state be liable for NOT defending people who don’t own guns?
No Concealed Carry and the discrimination increases!
as long as the leftist, elite, hollyweird big mouths, have to provide insurance for their first amendment rights......
when pigs fly........
So, when a thug breaks into your house, breaks open your safe, steals your guns, and then shoots someone in a robbery with your gun, you are sued. This sounds like a slip and fall lawyer’s dream come true.
Do criminals have to purchase this insurance too?
Gentlemen, prepare to defend yourselves !
Yep.
The only way to avoid such a situation is to not let the burglar out of your house alive, I guess.
Probably in fine print it says:
Only honest peasants pay.
And you, MrB, are VERY cynical. You are also 100% correct!
I wonder what the annual premium would be on a $1.0 mil personal liability ins product, and what the risk measurements would be when rating an applicant.
Being a life/health/DI/LTC insurance underwriter, I could see them running a motor vehicle records check on you, as well as a Inspection report with a criminal records check. Maybe a Rx scriptcheck for medication profile (would pick up anxiety/depression/bipolar meds). May also be based off caliber and number of weapons owned. Number of years licensed. Age of individual (younger = pricier) Could get credits for classes taken and passed. Conceal carry permit could factor into it.
I’ll dig around. I’m betting for a typical 45/M low risk, handgun, 2-3x sporting rifles, shotgun, $5-700/year zone.
Oh, goody! A Stimulus package for the legal profession!
I am in utter shock !!!
Illinois has required a stated issued ID card since 1968 to own a firearm, or purchase ammunition (http://www.isp.state.il.us/foid/firearmsfaq.cfm), which requires a purchase fee.
How is this constitutional ???
Time is coming and dip sticks like this will be running for cover.
It doesn’t matter how expensive or inexpensive the insurance might be - the requirement thereof is STILL unconstitutional.
Now that you mention it, how is the “state issued ID card” requirement constitutional?
My curiosity is simply a Devil’s Advocate “what if” question. I’m curious what it actually would typically cost, regardless of legality.
