ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's first two years in office have been called a time of milk and honey, when the resource-rich state was flush with wealth from record oil prices.
The second half of her term isn't looking so rosy as Palin faces her first major financial challenge as governor.
The rapid decline of oil prices has left the state in a looming budget crisis and a late-entrant in the national recession. And that could have political repercussions for the former Republican vice presidential hopeful, who has signaled an interest in a 2012 presidential run but must stay visible in the Lower 48 to be successful.

I've read through this article, and I just can't seem to find the so called 'chink'.
A budget shortfall, she's already cutting the spending. And they have huge reserves of money in the bank.(as the article itself states)
Where is the chink?
This is nothing more than liberal media doing it's usual activism.

Second negative story I’ve seen today on Palin.

When Obama has a big thing going (like the Stimulus) the media pushes Obama, Obama, Obama -- the greatest thing since sliced bread.
If Obama doesn't have anything major going on, the media pushes Palin, Palin, Palin -- biggest laughingstock since Dan Quayle.
But don't worry, the Fairness Doctrine is coming. [/s]

This is the economic model all states should follow. Unfortunately, artificial barriers have been put in place by experts< that make it more difficult for states like say, California to succeed....

Its not so bad here in Alaska, this time of year most people including myself are already laid off.
Alaska is seasonal and is uniquely different from the lower 48.
I am hoping the gas pipeline goes in.
And maybe the missile from North Korea lands in Anchorage a nasty little liberal haven.

Exactly.
How many states are screaming crisis and not giving people their tax refunds while holding on to the governor’s jet. And they pick on Sarah. They are scared to death of her.

The MSM has declared war on Sarah Palin.
They will spend the next 4 years printing anything which paints her in a bad light.
They did the same thing to Bush but he never faught back.

I’ve noticed, on occasion, an inflamatory headline like this one, yet the story LITERALLY contradicts it’s own headline.

yikes...I just went to the article.
From the headline, you'd never know Alaska has almost 9 billion in various reserve funds they can draw from if needed.

Well don’t expect it to be easy, of the 17 years I have lived here the first 3 were hell, we are very inclined to be protectionists and getting a job may not be easy, I found that out repeatedly.
Obama pretty much has no power up here, if there was a federal ban on firearms though that would most likely be the tipping point because so many Alaskans live off the land, a real liberal nightmare, its no wonder they huddle in Anchorage.

Yeah, the newest meme is "Quayle with a ponytail."
Let's behave as stupidly as Democrats and attack the author of this piece for his use of the racist epithet "chink" and make that the story.

If oil, long-term, stays low, it will eventually hurt the Alaska budge. But they have a lot in savings.
