TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) A proposed ban on smoking in most public places will be debated Monday in the Senate, and the chamber's top two leaders said Friday that the bill's chances for passage are good.
"If there are no substantive amendments, I would assume it would pass," said Senate President Steve Morris, a Hugoton Republican.
Senate Vice President John Vratil agreed, but cautioned that opponents will try to load it up with amendments.

Maybe we could STIMULATE the tobacco farms of North Carolina by asking everyone in Kansas to smoke!
To: Tolerance Sucks Rocks
Texas is also working on a smoking ban.

I simply turn on the Golden EIB Microphone and share my honest passions and beliefs with people. And theyre free to go elsewhere. Theyre free to ignore; theyre free to believe; theyre free to be entertained, I dont care. Theyre free to do whatever they want.
But a lot of people arent free to smoke cigarettes where they want; theyre not free to drink where they want; theyre not free to eat the kind of food they want to eat; theyre not free to eat trans fats; theyre not free to drive certain places. Pretty soon were going to be told what kind of cars we have to drive. I cant cause that. I cant restrict anybodys freedom. Weve elected a guy who can, does, and wants to, all under the guise of saving us. So I appreciate the effort, and I appreciate somewhat losing my temper here. But dont compare me ever to an authoritarian who thinks so little of people that without him they can barely breathe on their own. Dont ever do that.

The Kansas Senate is deciding whether or not to allow the people of Kansas to be free or be servants of the government. And the answer is.....?

And those are the EXACT words that Rush said.
It is unbelievable to me why there cannot be one place in any one state where adults can be adults. There is just no reason for it — none. We’re adults, not children.

Read what this person posted:
‘MHCC Admin has strict Smoking Rules in place. Employees and Residents are required to go to the other end of the building to smoke. However at night, there is one security guard that let’s employees smoke at the front doors because he is also a smoker. His explanation is “the residents are in bed asleep so they don’t know that I let the employees smoke in front of the doors”. The same officer claims that Admin is aware of the exception that he makes and is fine with his decision to allow smoking at the entrance between 10PM and 5AM. In the meantime, the other security officers who enforce the smoking rules are disrespected by the employees and ge their life threatened all because of this one guard making exceptions. His reply to one guard was “sometimes you have to bend the rules”.’

>All of us, smoker and non-smoker alike, of course.<
Here in my state, KY, they just passed their own cigarette tax hike.
Head line from my local paper (http://www.somerset-kentucky.com/local/local_story_046013815.html):
“Tax hikes on alcohol, cigarettes have spared education funding cuts for now”
For now? And they actually expect anyone to believe there will be education cuts?
Smokers can only be bled so much, especially when these smoking bans are being proposed. The tax revenues will eventually begin to fall off, and then what? I think the answer to that is crystal clear: since it is “for the children”, there will be no cuts, and the revenue will be made up by passing taxes on other goods...

I should have been more specific: For now? And they actually expect anyone to believe there will be education FUNDING cuts?
Education itself has been cut since I was in school. It’s the funding that won’t be cut!

Exactly, the poor children will go without health insurance, and obama will have to put breathalizers in some bill so a curable disease like asthma wont happen.. to the children, and they wont need the emergnecy room..We all need to just buy a pack or two a day and destroy them if you dont smoke.. support the children.. I recently stopped smoking after becoming quite ill w/flu.
Notice, I said I did not say I quit smoking. To this point I have no desire for a cigarette.
What I do desire is for government to stop passing laws that impinge upon those that do care to consume a legal product.

I’m not sure I get the point, why not just ban cigarettes. Can they even total ban smoking in public and not ban cigarettes. It would seem like a problem there? just asking
