Eighty computers have been lost, stolen or gone "missing" at a major US nuclear weapons lab...

worrisome losses at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the state of New Mexico.

The letter says that 13 lab computers were lost or stolen during the past year, three of the machines taken from an employee's home in January. Another 67 computers are deemed "missing."

What became of the missing computers and the "security ramifications of each of the 80 systems" was to be detailed in a written report to lab officials by February 6, according to the letter.

AFP telephone calls to the lab on Friday in search of comment were not returned.

It is a major center for research related to national security, outer space, renewable energy, medicine, nanotechnology, and supercomputing.

But mostly it's a major center for the housing of retards.

Just LOL I guess.

Most likely the missing computers are just the result of poor tracking of the assets. With all the spies and lack of security they don’t need to steal the computers. They just email or ftp the files they want out of the lab.

AFP? like I’d believe anything they write.

These PC’s were probably destroyed, replaced by newer better ones, and some of the obsolete ones snatched up by employees for their kids rather than tossing them in the trash.

AFP? anything to give the US a black eye, while ignoring the crap that goes on in their own country.

The letter, addressed to Department of Energy security officials, contends that "cyber security issues were not engaged in a timely manner" because the computer losses were treated as a "property management issue."

Considering the resent history of Los Alamos and cyber security I find this hard to believe.

I think someone was in cover up mode.

I recommend they hit the “destroy button”. This is like rocket science, right?

But don’t worry, folks...when we have National Health Care, and all of your records are stored on a computer database...

...this kind of thing will NEVER happen.

Obama sez so.

“Fellow scientists and engineers would not misuse the data. We just don’t understan the ‘security culture’, and outsiders don’t understand our culture of shared discovery. Wouldn’t you agree, Doctor Hussein?”

“Oh, absolutly, Doctor Hsu! This is just another meaningless tempest in a teapot. Speaking of tea, is that pot ready yet, Academician Stoltsky?”
