Stimulus Sellout: 3 Gop Senators Slashed Billions in Tax Cuts; Specter Got $6.5 Billion [cancer]

The “gang of three” — liberal Republican Sens. Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe, and Susan Collins — who handed President Obama the stimulus bill he so desperately needed, apparently sacrificed billions in tax cuts during final negotiations over the measure in order to reduce its cost.

The compromise bill — which may be ready for President Obama’s signature as early as Monday — also stripped America’s ailing businesses of tax benefits and other incentives.

“From auto dealers to the home-building industry, big business appears to be the biggest loser in the final economic stimulus plan . . .” The Wall Street Journal online reported, noting that Democrats removed key tax cuts and benefits for business as political payback for Republicans who failed to support the plan.

Though Republicans who crossed party lines apparently got rewarded. The New York Times reported Thursday that Sen. Specter got $6.5 billion for medical research. The Senator is ailing from cancer.

These three RINO senators are useful the fools to the left. They should be purged from the republican party as soon as possible.

Now that's bipartisanship for you. Deny any help to businesses, which actually produce something and create jobs, to get even. What great Americans./s

American workers may get welfare, but they won't get a decent job.

We can take pot shots year round if we want to. The more negative shot at the RINO direction whether it’s the Season or not the better.

By the time it’s the Season we’ll be more than ready for them, and with much more support of an accumulation of alert RINO hunters.

They should be purged from the republican party as soon as possible...useful the fools

Senator Collins is useful.. the only politician that has made it her career to keep and grow jobs in Maine--especially with a steady workload at the Bath Iron Works, by restored the nation’s shrinking U.S. Navy fleet and over seas contracts to BIW. Senator Collins has always promoted a strong national defense. She along with Bush has kept us safe since 9/11. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Collins successfully advocated for dual-lead ship DDG-1000 acquisition strategy and has consistently opposed a “one-shipyard” proposal for construction of the next generation of surface combatants.

It came as no surprise, as back in December, Collins and Snowe had already met with Obama on "infrastructure investment which was to be part of a larger economic stimulus package that would include energy improvements, such as weatherization programs (tax breaks for a cold state), and business cluster development"..."projects with sufficient planning and engineering completed that they could be put out to bid within three to six months of enactment of a federal stimulus package"..."7,000 construction jobs could be created in Maine in '09" says DOT." Repairs to infrastructure in Maine had been way over due. Much bridge replacement specifically has been ongoing since most were deemed unsafe. Augusta has been footloose with tax/fee and spend in other directions, even to lose millions to accounting?--the poor legacy of a Democratic controlled state for approximately 30 years.

I voiced to her, several times, (always with reply) I did not want this stimulus package, but it would have passed without any Republicans on board with fewer tax cuts if any included at all. Her job was to monitor the spending (BI0)

She has always been popular in Maine with small business leaders (100% rating). That's most of Maine's economy. She is highly respected by both parties here in Maine--thus her reelection blowout over Democrat Tom Allen(MoveOn.org heavily financed!!!!) this past election.

She is getting chasticed for inclusions removed that could be handled outside of this package under separate consideration. (Here with Cheney)

I understand your dismay, but in Maine--Rhino or not, knowing her history, she has earned our respect--she does not just safely blow media rhetoric from the sidelines, she mixes it up and makes the best out of the crap Obama and His Tax Jumpin' Boyz throw under their one gang rule. Stay very aware of the 2010 census issue!!!

Meanwhile McCain, not yet down from his HIGH of running for President is sending out e-mails, not relevant to the stimulus package; but voicing his intent to run again for the Senate and seeking Republican support $$$.

American workers may get welfare, but they won't get a decent job.

If this stimulus goes through, I'm closing my 401k. Then I'm saving every penny I can.

No spending for the Obama economy.

I may even work less so that less of my money goes to the government and welfare recipients.

I could use some more leisure time.

It's time for Atlas to shrug if this bill goes through. It severely burdens producers solely for the political gain of Democrats.

Obama will own this economy and its effect on the market which is down 2000 points since his election.

Do you realise that without these three traitors, the bill could not even be brought up for a vote? It only takes 51 votes to pass a bill, but it takes 60 votes to end debate, so it can be voted on.

This pork barrel bill would die or be re-negotiated without your Precious Collins and Snowe.
