Obama's Charm Isn't Working Wonders Abroad
WSJ ^ | Feb. 11, 2009 | by Bret Stephens

~ EXCERPT ~

Mr. Obama has made the U.S. popular in places like Montreal and Berlin, where our unpopularity never mattered much to begin with. But foreign policy is not about winning popularity contests. And woe to the president who imagines he needn't inspire fear among the wicked even as he embraces the adulation of the good.

Well.....he CERTAINLY doesn’t have any class. That’s a given. He can’t even follow protocol concerning Blair House.

They just don't know him like I do yet!

When Achmadinijad actually meets Obama face to face, he'll start shrieking in a way that makes the Deli scene from When Harry Met Sally look catatonic.

Just like I did.

Perhaps the lyrics of Kumbaya haven’t been translated and distributed yet.

From the comment section. This is excellent!

"Bush's second term is a good indicator where all of this is heading..

In his First Term, the US was assertive , it was unapologetic about its defense, and about the severity of the Islamist threat.

We spoke in a clear, unambiguous, non-equivocating, moral language. There was good and there was evil. You were either us or you were with them (and the "You" was really only referring to those entities in the world of significance and had pertinence to Islamism)

And what happened? Syria ended occupation of Lebanon, Libya declared its nuclear program, Iran suspended development on theirs. The barbarians in Palestinian areas knew the US would no longer tolerate their double-dealing (agreeing to new agreements while never having actually accomplished any of their obligations while falsely Israel of the same)

In fact many on the Left were beginning to wonder if Bush's moves were actually befitting the world.

So what happened? The 2004 election and the detestable Joe Wilson Plame started to attack the legitimacy of the Iraq War. Followed by Howard Dean and then eventually John Kerry. If you ever read John Kerry's Senate speeches before the Congressional vote approving the use of force, you'll see a much more eloquent advocacy for the war on Iraq than any Bush ever made.

Now remember .. our Islamic enemies have based their plans on the premise that the West is too decadent to fight the war needed to defeat the Islamists. That our peoples are too cowardly , and our governments too fearful of risk to fight.

I remember what Saddam's sons said of Bush... "He is not Clinton... He actually means it,, the Americans are coming). Our enemies didn't anticipate Bush's immediate war-footing.

But the 2004 election saw the Democrat Party choose Sedition over Victory for their own ends. And Bush, never defending himself, allowed his 1st term to be written off as a series of illegitimate acts of desperation.

Condi Rice steered our (or was steered) the Foreign Policy paradigm back to the naive appeasing stupid one. And like weeds.. all the enemies came back out of their hiding spots... and now they have the confirmation of their original assertion:

The West is too decadent to fight the war needed to defeat the Islamists. That our peoples are too cowardly , and our governments too fearful of risk to fight.

And Russia and China see the same thing... Russia and China will do all they can to funnel Islamic aggression towards the West and do all they can to ensure the West has the most difficult time in this fight.

And if that's not bad enough.. during all this time, Leftist policy in America was steadily infecting the finance system with viral loans... now their time bomb has exploded and the Left sees this as their chance to eliminate from America everything that has made it exceptional , primarily the Liberty of the American citizens and the business corporations they created to engage in commerce and keep their property and restraining the Federal Government from becoming a Central Government.

Our enemies see that our foundation has been blown away by the Left. They will exploit this;.

Obama is going to be a disaster of unknown historical proportions.

Thank you to the drones out there that voted for him.. you voted for a very dark world. "
