Cheney warns of new attacks

Former Vice President Dick Cheney warned that there is a “high probability” that terrorists will attempt a catastrophic nuclear or biological attack in coming years, and said he fears the Obama administration’s policies will make it more likely the attempt will succeed.

In an interview Tuesday with Politico, Cheney unyieldingly defended the Bush administration’s support for the Guantanamo Bay prison and coercive interrogation of terrorism suspects.

And he asserted that President Obama will either backtrack on his stated intentions to end those policies or put the country at risk in ways more severe than most Americans — and, he charged, many members of Obama’s own team — understand.

“When we get people who are more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist than they are with protecting the United States against people who are absolutely committed to do anything they can to kill Americans, then I worry,” Cheney said.

Back when the TM was in it's 8th iteration and I somewhat belatedly joined the thread. Then I couldn't get enough of TM only to go into survival mode with each new post. Now, I'm jaded. I'm sorry, I just can't get worked up about this. Maybe I've grown closer to God these last few months but I've finally and for all time accepted that HE is "in charge" and HE is sticking to HIS plan of which I am a part. All I can do is that which I prep for every year this time.... (Hurricane Season) and hunker down. In the meantime, life goes on. Let these animals scare you into altering your life and you have allowed them to win.

The intention was not to scare nor to cause for TMers to fear. In fact, because of TM, I’ve learned to continue on without fear but to know when it’s prudent to be extra cautious and hyper-aware.

I now know what ‘odd’ behaviors to look for and where to report such. I know to be prepared.

The rest though, as you said, is in the hands of God.

A lot of stuff is going on that is being “hidden” under the fabricated crisis. There IS a crisis but bankrupting the nation was not needed to save the situation. Many experts, including the Congressional Budget Office reached conclusions that doing nothing and let matters sort themselves out would almost certainly provide better results than the stimulus.

Meanwhile, abut computers being monitored, there was a post on FR that indicated Congress was passing a law whihc woul dallow the administratio to view everybody’s computer hard drives.

I believe I saw it some time the early hours after midnight.
If someone finds it, please let me know.

There are a number of power control bills being rammed through congress with a bypass of the 60 vote rule in the Senate so a simple 50 + 1 majority suffices.

One example is the Republican add-on to the Volunteer Bill, I believe, which stated that lobbying groups like ACORN would not be allowed to use taxpayer funds for their activities.

Harry Reid used procedural rule bypasses to strip it from the bill and ram the stripped version through on a simple not 60 vote majority.

Only thing I'm altering much is travel planning for family members and (very occasionally) my field of fire.

Thought a bit about doing a Galt's Gulch on this whole sorry deal, but have too much family to move and no good maps for the trip. Guess I'll just have to gather the clans and stand my da** ground.

Nice of the bad guys to hold press conferences and talk it up before they act, even if most of it is misdirection or BS.

Al-Qaeda terrorist prisoners plotted to escape in hijacked helicopter
3/31/09

Accomplices on the outside were to hire the helicopter for "business" then force the pilot to land in prison at gunpoint. Nine Muslim inmates plotted to kidnap the jail imam during prayers with weapons hidden in the prison mosque. According to the plan they would then move to a sports field using the imam as a shield and be picked up by the helicopter.

Wardens at Full Sutton prison in Yorkshire, acting on a tip-off, went to the plotters' cells hours before the escape attempt was due to start. The nine, including convicted terrorists, will now be transferred to other jails. A source told the Sun: "This would have been one of the most damaging escapes ever. The intelligence was very strong and from a good source. It had to be acted on immediately.

"It involved some of the most dangerous al-Qaeda terrorists in jail, all of whom are a massive threat. It had been planned for months and the use of a helicopter shows it was sophisticated."

Hundreds of police uniforms seized in flat raid Police warned people to ask officers for ID today following the recovery of a stash of police uniforms and equipment at a flat.

More than 100 PCSO uniforms and hundreds of batons, jackets, body armour, handcuffs and CS spray holders were found following a raid committed by bogus officers. The uniforms, which had old Metropolitan police badges sewn on to them, were used in a burglary at the Royal British Legion club in Walkden, Greater Manchester, in the early hours of yesterday.
