Federal Spending Was on ‘Starvation Diet’ During Bush Years, Says Democratic Senator Monday, February 09, 2009 By Terence P. Jeffrey, Editor-in-Chief

(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Claire McCaskill (D.-Mo.) said yesterday that some of the spending in the $819-billion stimulus passed by the House of Representatives last week represented important federal spending priorities needed to “make-up for a starvation diet under the Bush Administration.”

McCaskill indicated that the question wasn’t whether all the money approved in the House bill should be spent but whether it should be included in the stimulus bill that Congress is rushing through this month in an effort to spur the struggling economy or in regular appropriations bills that will be approved later in the year.

The so-called stimulus bill that was drafted over the weekend in the Senate is reported by the Associated Press to contemplate spending $827 billion--or about $9 billion more than the $819 billion stimulus bill that was approved by the House. The $827-billion Senate bill reportedly has the support of all 58 senators who caucus with the Democrats and 3 Republicans—Senators Arlen Specter (R.-Pa.), Olympia Snowe (R.-Me.) and Susan Collins (R.-Me.)--giving it more than the 60 votes needed to defeat a filibuster.

...a starvation diet under the Bush Administration...

...where does one even begin?

Good thing we dumped all those free-spending RINOs and that drunken sailor Bush...

I heard the comment. She said it with a straight face. Once again prooves the true adgenda of Democrats. Socialism. Similar to Maxine Waters slip. They only care about saving Government jobs. Not us. I am for a starvation diet for the government.

Yep, and pass that stimulus bill, and I will do everything within my power to put Federal Tax Revenues collected on a starvation diet, and then we’ll see how the debt-to-income ratio looks

Better the Federal Government than Terri Schaivo.

Would that she had lived and “IT” had died.

Is it possible that McCaskill is even dumber than Pelosi? I am so disappointed in the people from Missouri, I used to think they had more common sense than most of the USA.

“Is it possible that McCaskill is even dumber than Pelosi?”

OPINION:

They are both Democrats with an agenda.

I don’t know if being willfully ignorant is a requirement to be a Democrat, but it does seem like a trend.

LOL! Methinks it would be way cool to live in her parallel dimension.

Sheesh.

You just don’t understand. It is the responsibility of those who work hard and earn money to give ALL of their money to those who don’t work.

I was looking for John Semmens’ tagline here ... unfortunately, truth is stranger (and more idiotic) than fiction.

Alexis De Tocqueville once warned:

"America will last until the populace discovers that it can vote for itself largesse out of the public treasury."

Here we have another Neo-Marxist with no clue of basic economic theory and a proponent of putting forth proven failed policies that have bankrupt nation after nation that tried it. I wonder if she tried to operate a lemonade stand when she was little?

Yes, that is certainly true but even many who used to work and are now retired seem to want the present workers to give them the fruits of their current labor.
