So far six audience members have stormed out midperformance of the Broadway show “You’re Welcome America. A Final Night with George W Bush,” the comedian Will Ferrell’s lampooning of the 43rd president, according to those keeping count at the Cort Theater. But they haven’t been leaving after a particular Ferrell quip.
They’ve been standing up, instead, after the projection of a supersize photo on the backdrop of the stage. A photo of a penis. Specifically, as Mr. Ferrell (who plays President Bush) leads the audience to believe, the president’s penis. Except that’s not quite right.
“It’s an anonymous but age-appropriate public domain Internet penis,” said Adam McKay, the play’s director. “We went on the Web and got a penis.”
“It’s not the president’s penis, as far as I know, and Will is 41, so we weren’t going to use his,” Mr. McKay added. “What I do know is that the photo gets one of the great shrieks of delight from the audience, and it’s also the one moment that is followed by people walking out.”

So how is Saturday Night Live handling the Chosen One? With kid gloves?
With Will Ferrel on the stage, why do they need a penis? Ferrel is a prick anyway.

This is the nadir of entertainment. If I were in this audience at this point I’d seriously start thinking about a major life change. I mean, who pays money to see this crap? Is this really what we want our culture to be like?
I’m not talking about laws or censorship, I’m talking about individual artists really thinking, “How would I like to spend my saturday night?”
Unfortunately, on Broadway, staring at penises IS how most of these people would like to spend a saturday night.
I’ve always thought Will Ferrell was a talentless bore. Now everyone knows!

When we get hit again in the next four year - and we will get hit again. I only hope that its Hollywood or the West Village, and not my home town. Let see their Messiah save them then.

HBO material sucks ... If you’re paying for HBO call your provider and switch to Encore to see older and far better material
I wouldn’t have got up and left. I would have heckled Ferrell after that photo until I was forced to leave. I probably would have drawn as many laughs as Ferrell.
Man, what an absolute disgrace. I’ve laughed at Will’s stuff in the past...but this is pathetic.
Get a life, liberals. Bush is gone.
I tried to dump HBO for this very reason but the way the cable companies structure their packages, it is impossible to eliminate HBO in a cost effective way and keep other movie channels.
I have lost all respect for Will Ferrell. Amazing that this talented man, who IMO was one of the best SNL stars of all time, and later starred in some good movies (Talledega Nights, Elf, Stepbrothers, and my all-time Ferrell movie, Semi-Pro) is resorting to typical knee-jerk Hollywood trash liberalism. I recall that Bush himself enjoyed the skits of Ferrell impersonating him and called Ferrell but Ferrell reportedly turned him down. I mean, I just don’t get it. You’re making millions of dollars entertaining people. Why are you wasting your time trying to promote a political agenda that’s anathema to the majority of your fans? Ferrell is just another Hollywood liberal and I won’t be patronizing his films ever again.

I”m a recovering Will fan.....and this just made it a bit easier. No thanks Will - you just lost 4 movie tickets to anything in the future.
