"The question of whether or not the economy needs help is really not in debate. I don't think there's a single member of the Senate that believes that no action is the appropriate course for us to take.
"But one of the good things about reading history is you learn a good deal. And, we know for sure that the big spending programs of the New Deal did not work.

It's like you have a sick patient and it's "urgent" that he be given medicine, TO IMPROVE HIS CONDITION. BUT the objective is to give the RIGHT MEDICINE, because the WRONG MEDICINE not only won't help the patient but it can KILL him.
This huge government spending bill, masquarading as "stimulus" will KILL the economy, NOT save it.
Like an episode of “House”
Well get off your butt and whip your damn RINOS in to step you idiot. Quit whining and kick some ass!!
I'm really sorry to hear you say that senator.
I'm even more sorry that what you said is probably true. It is possible that every single member of the senate does not have a clue how our economy works.
No surprise. We have had ample and conclusive proof that stupidity in Washington may be the only truly bipartisan characteristic of government.
You're against tax cuts?
There are a lot of things they should do — starting with making the Bush tax cuts permanenet, and cut taxes more (and I don’t count handing money to those who don’t pay taxes, as “tax cuts”)
Permanent tax cuts allow people and businesses to plan for the long term, puts money in in people’s pockets that they can spend as they wish, not as the government decides it should be spent.
"My modest proposal is that lawmakers be authorized to hire personal economic trainers over the coming year to sit by their sides as they fashion the government's response to the economic crisis and prevent them from uttering the kind of nonsense that has characterized the debate over the stimulus bill during the last two weeks. "
But when a politician purports to want to 'do something' to fix a problem he seldom means he wants to reduce his power & authority.
If Mitch is referring to tax cuts alone I'll stand corrected.
Or they do and they are promoting self first in a known climate of financial concern for all.
These are actions I could live with.
Well that’s really something, coming from you Mitchie. You voted for the first “stimulus” in spite of massive intervention by the “little people”...you know, the unimportant folks with the pathetic little lives who just happen to be the ones who pay all of the bills for your criminal escapades. So now you’re undoubtedly looking for some sort of utterly meaningless “compromise”. That is, an issue which will mean absolutely nothing, but sound important enough to give you the necessary cover to sell out the American public yet again. Go screw yourself, Mitchie of the limp wrist and spaghetti spine.
