I saw where he stopped and shook hands with the marine on station before boarding Marine One instead of returning the marine’s salute. The marine had this “WTF?” look on his face. No smiles, just “WTF?”
That’s a confusion, but it’s Bush’s fault. The Pres is NOT supposed to salute the military because he is a Civilian leader. Bush did it out of respect, and that’s ok, but it’s not the rule. Reagan did it too, I think.
HIS???? I think not, he just gets to use it. Last I looked it belonged to the People of the USofA.

That’s so spiffy and neato! Next he will be saying “cool beans!” or...or...he will remember that he’s supposed to be appealing to the younger generations...maybe he will say “that’s so leetsauce!” or “Omg! That’s uber epic!”

Returning salutes with handshakes is part of the new White House informality? Will we see a new Executive Order commanding all military officers to follow suit?

That is a good 5 word summary of Clinton’s 8 years in the White House.
No trying to pick an argument, but I thought Marine One was used only to ferry the president from Andrews to White House and vice verse, and also taken ahead to locations where president might be touring disaster areas and where chopper is needed...LaGuardia to Wall Street heliport, for example...saw that one on Discovery Channel. President flew Air Force One to LaGuardia and then Marine One to Wall Street heliport.
I wonder how many reading that will know what the “Piggly Wiggly” is. :)
