More Gun Control Introduced in Congress
American Thinker ^ | 02-06-2009 | Gregory Young

The liberals are at it again. In a new bill introduced the first day of present session of Congress, and with zero coverage from the MSM, H.R. 45 (Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009) targets all gun owners in the U.S.A.

This nefarious bill seeks to strip us all of our Constitutional Rights to possess and bear firearms of any distinction. It requires, within the first two years, that all new guns be registered. The bill goes retroactive after two years. Meaning that two years after the passage of the bill, ALL FIREARMS in a citizen’s possession must be registered, not just those purchased after the bill passes, and this apparently applies to antique firearms as well.

Every five years the firearm owner must go through a complete renewal process for each weapon owned. Failure to comply carries stiff penalties including confiscation of the firearms and jail time (penalties as high as ten years imprisonment in some cases). The bill also authorizes government searches without warrant, the creation of a federal bureaucracy to monitor firearm possession, etc.

Ya gotta follow the link on Thomas to “GPO Text Version”, jump those hoops till you get the bill, and link to the PDF version there. Link to the Thomas search fails because the search is not permanemnt (like Google is, you can C&P a google search but not a Thomas one)

Re: The Turner Diaries

I really found the racism and anti-semitism of the “movement” to be disgusting,

but the actions of the gov’t were true to form, even if hyperbolized and exagerated to make a good enemy.

But, can’t you see it happening today?
A gun raid in a “black” neighborhood would be “racist”, so they’d only concentrate on “white” neighborhoods.
Public policy excusing minorities of conformity to law, in order to assuage white guilt... it happens.

Well, as bad as this bill is, it isn’t a ban on all weapons.

Yes it is. They will keep upping the paperwork requirements and audit you till they find a minor goof, then offer you amnesty and a suspended sentence if you turn all your guns in and consent to a search. Not the first year, but maybe year ten.

Think England, Australia, Scotland, that was the technique.

Why not use the KISS principle? (Keep it Small & Simple)

Congress + Rope + Trees + Patriots = Free men.

Besides it will keep us from getting that nasty tar & feathers all over us.

I was speaking about the gun control measures, the people control measures, the corruption, the socialist government that were in the Turner Diaries. Not the race and religious aspects.

The arrogance of the system sounds so much like what we have seen of late out of places like Washington DC, Chicago etc.

Yeah, I (and you) would probably be one of the “conservatives” that they hated so much... :)

The purpose of this bill isn't to pass, it's to get gun-owners so concerned that when the AWB ban bill comes up, they say to themselves, "well, it's not as bad as Bobby Rush's bill was"...

Probably accurate, and I see parallels in the Financial Stimulus® package(s), not to mention just about everything else the power mad leftists do. That is, they throw a laundry list of emergency items on the table knowing full they will not get all of it, but are beside themselves they were able to filch a few more pieces of the pie after outmaneuvering Pubbies once again.

Their incessant power grabs serve another purpose, it keeps them on the offensive and leaves conservatives on defense, cleaning up the manure after the parade.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I'll fight this crap tooth and nail. There is, in fact, no other issue that I put before the second amendment. I think that any political party that initiates a complete ban on weapons such as you are discussing will quickly find itself unemployed because there's always an election 2 years away and Americans won't have it. What's more, I don't think cops will enforce laws such as that in rural areas because, at the end of the day, they have families that they want to go home to and see. The fact is, the Democratic scum bags that currently enjoy power are only in their current position because America felt she needed to purge Washington and when America cleans house, she doesn't f**k around as we have seen; however, The Democrats can just as easily find themselves on the receiving end of America's wrath. There are, after all, only two choices to choose from. Then there's the supreme court issue. The Supreme Court has stated that the 2nd amendment applies to individuals. Any law that outright bans weapons will be unconstitutional such as the New Jersey ban bill that's been proposed. New Jersey is going to spend millions of dollars to pass a law that is blatantly unconstitutional. It will be struck down and our position will be stronger as a result of it. They can and probably will try. I think they'll fail and I think they'll pay a political price for it as America corrects itself in 2010 and 2012. If I'm wrong, well...we'll cross that bridge if and when we get to it.

Is this for real or is it from The Onion or Scrappleface

No, it's a real bill. If it gets passed, civil war II will start very shortly thereafter.

No co-sponsors and a very slim chance of even making onto the floor of the House for a vote. But the plan is to get gun owners all riled up about something that’s not going to pass so that when an all new “assault weapons” ban makes its appearance (a short time later) we’ll all be so relieved that the worst bill (H.R. 45) is behind us that we won’t fight as hard against the AWB. ....at least that’s what the libs are hoping will happen. Fat chance though — our vigilance won’t waver, as they’ll discover soon enough.

You hit the nail on the head - Trojan Horse. Get us all hot and bothered about the extremist bill, then come along with something much more “reasonable” and say, “Hey, this is much better, and if you defeat it, BR will be back with his bill.”

Anybody have a link to “The Window War?” It would seem appropriate to have an educational article like that presented at this time.

Our government really believes that...we all are criminals.

No, they don't. They do, however, want to make us into criminals:

"Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We WANT them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted -- and you create a nation of law-breakers -- and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with."

Thomas only gives temporary URLs for bills and amendments, IIRC, so links are useless. You have to print it or the pertinents sections of it.

Before they take my guns away from me, they have to find them. ;-)

A lot of good that will do if you're locked up.

I think there is a valid argument to be made that the time to bury your guns (in a cache) is exactly the proper time to dig them up for immediate use!

“No cosponsors and mired in the Judiciary committee.”

True. But the fact that a “Congressman” would even be thinking about enacting something as hideous as this is cause for alarm —especially coming from a contemptable swine like Bobby Rush (former Black Panther radical convicted of firearms violations).

Un-freaking-believable.
