Oh for crying out loud, he’s 23 years old. I think he’s allowed an occasional stupid mistake. Talk about the media destroying someone. yikes. Leave the kid alone. Imagine if they did this to every public person who took a bong hit. What is the point ?
It’s OK, he wasn’t smoking pot, he was inhaling steroids to enhance his performance.
The Olympics will not allow him to compete, if this is proven. It may be okay personally, but that doesn’t stick with the committee that will decide whether his usage of the substance that he is inhaling amounts to gaining unfair advantage.

I saw that. It is not sports drugs though. He was a kid drunk at a college party. It was complete stupidity. Im just thinking who doesnt have a son who has done something stupid like this.

How can anyone “prove” a photo taken from the side and behind?
It maybe, sorta, kinda, possibly, might look vaguely like Phelps, but all he needs to say is “it isn’t me.”
If I recall correctly, the Olympic Committee requires blood tests, not photos from “News Of The World”.

Good I can’t stand him. I have been blasted on this site so many times by saying that I think he is a creep and FINALLY he shows his true colors. Perhaps next time I will be taken seriously.

I doubt ones whose sons compete in the Olympics do. I believe they ban substances, including hallucinogens / drugs. Cannabis would fit the bill, IIRC.
I have watched him on many talk shows and he is arrogant and full of himself IMHO.
From what I have seen of him on talk shows, he doesn't seem overly bright.

I don't see what the big deal is here. Nobody ever said pot increased athletic performance and that's all the olympic committee should care about, getting unfair chemical advantage.
Regularly filling your lungs with cannabis smoke isn't going to give any athlete unfair advantage of any kind.
Most swimmers don’t shave their heads, that’s one of the reasons why they use caps.

Phelp’s mother was a teacher. Most teachers who had Phelps told his mother the same thing, her son wouldnt amount to much. Phelp’s Mom never said too much to them as she didnt want to make waves etc.

Yeah but you CAN shave your head. Plenty of non-swimmers shave their heads. You can just do it and either reference the fact that you’re a swimmer or not when asked (if asked) why you shaved your head.
Starting with preschool, teachers complained: Michael couldn’t stay quiet at quiet time, Michael wouldn’t sit at circle time, Michael didn’t keep his hands to himself, Michael was giggling and laughing and nudging kids for attention.
As he entered public school, he displayed what his teachers called “immature” behavior. “In kindergarten I was told by his teacher, ‘Michael can’t sit still, Michael can’t be quiet, Michael can’t focus,’ ” recalled Ms. Phelps, who was herself a teacher for 22 years. The family had recently moved, and she felt Michael might be frustrated because the kindergarten curriculum he was getting in the new district was similar to the pre-K curriculum in their old district.
“I said, maybe he’s bored,” Ms. Phelps recalled saying to his teacher. “Her comment to me — ‘Oh, he’s not gifted.’ I told her I didn’t say that, and she didn’t like that much. I was a teacher myself so I didn’t challenge her, I just said, ‘What are you going to do to help him?’ ”
In the elementary grades at their suburban Baltimore school, Ms. Phelps said, Michael excelled in things he loved — gym and hands-on lessons, like science experiments. “He read on time, but didn’t like to read,” she said. “So I gave him the Baltimore Sun sports pages, even if he just read the pictures and captions.”
She will never forget one teacher’s comment: “This woman says to me, ‘Your son will never be able to focus on anything.’ ”
His grades were B’s and C’s and a few D’s.

Right, and considering the fact that he never shaved his head before..... would only make him look like he was trying to hide something! lol

I never shaved my head either... until the first time I shaved it. And he doesn’t have to shave it now... in fact, that would be counterproductive. Assuming that photo is actually him (which it might not be) and assuming he realizes that he shouldn’t smoke any more pot, he’s got a lot of time between now and the next testing to shave his head, get rid of the “bad hair” grow in some “good hair” and be ready for the test.
We are talking about a pretty serious amount of money at stake here. If he is guilty, he’d be a fool not to try to save his stake in future earnings.

You can bet that his coach and others will be testing asap to disprove the rumor. Supposedly there is a new 4 year drug rule for the olympics, which would ruin his 2012 bid.
I don’t endorse toking weed, but that picture does NOT look like Michael Phelps. I don’t know either, but how do you know that this photo is real?
