Obama e-mail list called to action on stimulus plan (house parties-BHO community organizing)

The Obama camp is calling the president’s supporters into action behind his agenda for the first time since his inauguration.

Organizing for America — the former campaign apparatus that is now a two-week-old arm of the Democratic National Committee — is sending an e-mail to anyone who was involved with an Obama house party during the campaign season, asking them to host similar gatherings next weekend to push for the president’s economic stimulus plan.

That package, which passed the House this week without Republican support, is currently being considered by the Senate.

OFA will be making an open call for online questions, which the Obama team will use to craft a video for distribution to house party hosts. Once again, all supporters will be able to access a searchable list of meetings being held in their area.

Why is it getting lost that Barrack Obama doesn’t need any Republicans to pass this bill?

Obama’s propaganda machine is well financed and in full action. I don’t know how we combat it.

Last night I was listening to a radio station out of Reno, Nevada. Moveon.org and others are merely continuing the election campaign and running spots about the HORRIBLE republicans trying to destory America/Obama by their obstructing the stimulus. Barry’s propaganda money machine, along with the media, is going to use every resource...and they have plenty....to push their agenda through.

I've read that they think they need a couple of Republicans in the Senate or they might lose the vote. Some of the Dems from conservative states may not vote for it.

President-elect Barack Obama announced the formation of a new group known as "Organizing for America" that aims to continue the grassroots advocacy that the former Illinois Senator began in his presidential campaign.

"As President, I will need the help of all Americans to meet the challenges that lie ahead," Obama said in a video message e-mailed to supporters (and reporters) this morning. "That's why I'm asking people like you who fought for change during the campaign to continue fighting for change in your communities."

The new group will be the flagship of "Obama 2.0" as many people have taken to calling the transformation of the political organization created during the 2008 campaign.

The new group will work within the Democratic National Committee -- led by Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine -- to advance the Obama agenda. "President-elect Obama has laid the foundation to meet the great challenges facing our nation, but we can succeed only if we build grassroots support for the administration's agenda," said Kaine in a release announcing the formation of Organizing for America.

*snip*

It's clear that Obama recognizes the power that his email list, which boasts more than 13 million names, represents in American politics and is working to ensure it stays within the control of a small group who are charged with protecting the Obama brand.

"OFA is urging supporters to host stimulus-related house parties next weekend."

My two cents, I hope Sarah Palin does not accept this stimulus bribery money for Alaska and sends a clear message to other governors.

What are the laws in regard to using your public office to promote a political movement? IIRC it’s illegal.
