No, he’s far worse than Jimmy - Jimmy didn’t possess any ties to Islam.

With Kennedy, I actually wept.

With Johnson, I began to suspect corruption.

With Carter, I endured the stupidity.

With Clinton, I fought to defeat the left.

With this fool, I find myself lost in another country.

Heh. President Obama won’t get any further in the Arabized Persian Bazaar than any other president. But with the Democrats cuts against defense likely on the way, he might end up drafting an unprecedentedly large army.

Obama should remember that he is the president of the United States - not an impartial broker.

He'll be reminded. The notion that the Democrats represent a nicer set of internationalist good guys was always a pathetic high school fantasy. Liberal, enlightened, above it all, and the world was only prevented from rainbows and unicorns by that nasty George W. Bush. It was longing for peace. Yearning to open its collective arms and embrace the new progressive future. There are adults who actually believe this.

I think that Mr. Obama is slowly becoming aware that despite his best intentions and the stalwart insistence of the NY Times there is a very large group of people who don't like Americans simply because we are Americans. Someday he may come to the realization that he is an American himself and that it applies to him too, and that stammering "B-but I'm on your side!" doesn't cut a lot of ice with the guys in the ski masks.

Since I’m too exasperated to get angry at this point, I will just find this hilarious. Obama says he will meet with them without conditions. Seeing this as an obvious sign of weakness, the Muslims of course will take the initiative to demand he meet their conditions!

The whole Arab/Muslim mindset is very big on showing strength and manliness. That’s one reason why being defeated by the puny state of Israel over and over is so humiliating to them. Obama’s actions to them say “I’m not a man”, so they are asserting themselves as the power player in the relationship, as they would at any similar opportunity. Obama, you have just become Ahmadinejad’s b*tch, now hand over your fruit cup!

Osama is going to fold like a cheap camera. He’ll capitulate to Iran.

A Bohican currently occupies the Oval Office.

He is going to Boheek to Ahmadinejad
He is going to Boheek to Castro
He is going to Boheek to Chavez

He might even do all of this Boheeking in the same week!

Hussein would sell his own grandmother (of any color) to the cheapest bidder if he thought it would appease. Throw in the little girls and Dear Wife and it’s a done deal.

It’s rational to negotiate with one’s enemies if your interlocutor is rational. But the Iranian mullahs embody a sort of collective insanity. They are very serious about eradicating Israel. Israel may be to them the “little Satan,” but America is the “great Satan.” They laughed at George Bush when he promised he would not allow them to produce a nuclear arsenal. They may have such weapons very soon. This will make them the major power in the Middle
East and perhaps start an arms race in that extremely unstable area. They could export these weapons to rogue states or terrorist groups. Obama will just kick the can down the road by flattering them with recognition. They’ve certainly examined Obama and probably know they can convince him that any talks are “sincere.” And is Obama unaware that the actions of the last several years - including sanctions - have all been futile? I personally believe that with Obama the Iranians know they’ve been given a green light. It’s all over - just a question of when the weapons will be revealed.

Unreal. This is exactly how it was laid out in the debates. McCain said Obama was being naive by proposing direct talks with Iran, he would be elevating and empowering them and making us look weak in the process. Now Obama has done exactly that, and the Iranians have too.

What, exactly, is Obama’s larger strategy here? He offered his hand and they left him hanging. Now what? Apologies?

Ahmadinejad told a crowd of militants that no talks are possible unless the United States met a set of conditions.

Ahmadinejad comes out as a crafty chess player giving Obama a black eye and Obama comes out of this as a naive fool outfoxed by a radical nut that the world was laughing at. Score one win for Iran. With all our expertise in the new administration it’s unbelievable that they allowed our President to make such a fool of himself, so soon.
