Today was a good day for conservatism

I’ve been doing a lot of B.O. (Barack Obama/Bend Over) Republican-bashing the past few weeks. Watching the Republicans crumble on the Geithner and Holder nominations, swoon over The One’s congeniality, and display indecision over the stimulus hasn’t been easy on the stomach or the head.

But credit must be given where it is due. Today was a very good day for conservatism — and a good day for the party whose logo I’ve had to run upside-down for too long.

Thank you, GOP.

It’s a sad state of affairs when I can tally the number of notably good days for the Republican Party on one hand over the past two years: the defeat of shamnesty, the (temporary) prevention of massive S-CHIP expansion, last summer’s Drill, Baby, Drill revolt on the House floor. Fortunately, the GOP held the line this evening in a remarkable, powerful way. They may have lost the vote, but they sent a lasting message. They took

I've heard that the porkulus bill cannot be stopped in the Senate. All it'll take to pass is 50 votes plus one. Republicans better vote NO!

Annie, you forget: (NOW THE DEMOCRATS OWN THIS); now because it is socialism (and won’t work): They can’t blame REPUBLICANS when it fails: ALL-in-ALL a very good Day!

I think it was very disrespectful and borderline racist that the Republicans voted against Obama’s legislation.

Yay for conservatism. After saying “yes” to every bit of government growing legislation for the last 8 years we finally say “no” and it’s a good day.

Down with all of them. Praising mediocrity does no one any good, especially the praiser.

Right....we'll win when the Republic is destroyed. And, the MSM will tell everyone that the GOP was right all along, and that Americans can blame the Dems for the failure. Then pigs fly?

I know, I know....a great day.

You’re twisting my intention: yeah you are right that it is pathetic that this has to be a good “day” when Republicans merely do the things they should have been doing all along, and that this BAILOUT II/(stimulus) will destroy America: IT’S NOT A GOOD DAY in that sense. I suppose I’ve just been so disheartened lately with the (Democrat Party 2) hasn’t really been a true vehicle of Conservative/(Opposition) to our culture and liberalism that it SEEMS good by comparison!

I understand, JS....we’re all frustrated. It’s because we care about our beloved country and are watching the usurper-in-chief destroy it daily. And, our options to stop him are running out.

Of course they’ll blame the Republicans because no one will challenge it. They own the Down Stream Media (as in don’t drink the water downstream).

Good on Ms. Malkin. Judging by the article, she isn’t praising mediocrity. She’s giving credit where it’s due. Neither is Ms. Malkin suggesting that we trust the RINO’s.

I am confident that had the Republicans supported this scheme, FReepers wouldn’t have been using far more colorful metaphors to express their objections and outrage than Ms. Malkin did at the conclusion of her article.

I will also give credit to those Republicans, but if they believe that this responsible act will earn the trust of the people, they are sorely mistaken.

This is a classic stumbling block with conservatives. If an educated columnist such as Ms. Malkin or Ms. Coulter missteps (in the opinion of the critic) but a little, they have to endure the wrath.

We, as conservatives, are going to have to be unify as a force and examine not just those issues with which we disagree on, but support one another on the bigger issues.

House Republicans are much closer to conservatism than senate republicans.

Given that the list only involves OPPOSING something rather than DOING something, it bodes very poorly for the GOP in the long-run. Unless the party starts DOING something or at least advocating DOING something, it is going to be a long time in the wilderness.

Opposing rather than doing has worked for the liberals.

It’s about time the Republicans developed something akin to a backbone.

I’m sick and tired of liberal abuse from leftwingers and so should conservatives and Republicans especially RINOs. Haven’t these RINOs learned by now that if you even show a hint of niceness to a liberal or leftwinger they will shake your hand and while holding it kick you in the nads and keep on kicking you in the balls. That’s why RINOs just don’t get it. When faced with leftwing liberal propaganda you just throw it back in their face and hold even stronger to your convictions, beliefs and values. That is the time when you need to be the strongest you can be. It’s about time the Republicans kick the leftwing liberals in the nuts (synbolically) and keep on doing it. The only way to win against these left wing nuts and wackos is to do just that and keep it up until they cry surrender.

Praise should also go to those 11 brave democrats who also voted against this “stimulus” package. I predict this “stimulus” package will be as stimulating as taking two sleeping pills. In other words, zero sum effect and in fact may even worsen things and do just the opposite of what is intended. There are always unintended consequences to such things and this package is full of them, weighed down by them and will unrimately fail. It is so full of pork that it would kill an orthodox Jew fifty times over.
