Here's one mom who won't be buying those new Sasha and Malia dolls produced by Westmont-based Ty, Inc.:
First lady Michelle Obama.
On Thursday, her office gave the toys the raspberry.
"We believe it is inappropriate to use young, private citizens for marketing purposes,'' Katie McCormick Lelyveld, the first lady's press spokeswomen said in an e-mail to the Sun-Times.
A spokeswoman for Ty did not return a call Thursday.
On Wednesday, company spokeswoman Tania Lundeen told the paper that Ty, Inc. founder H. Ty Warner was inspired by the Obama daughters.
"How can we resist?" she said.
Crain's Chicago Business quoted an unnamed company official saying that "we certainly hope that [the Obama girls] like them."
But Lundeen told the Associated Press that the doll names -- "Sweet Sasha" and "Marvelous Malia" -- were chosen because "they are beautiful names," not because of any resemblance to first kids Malia and Sasha Obama.

Your post reminded me of a movie I watched on cable last night — “Conquest of the Planet of the Apes.” This was the movie that showed how the apes took over the world from the humans. It made me think of how conservatives may be treated in a post-Obama world. :>)
I don’t recall any company making and selling dolls with the likeness of Palin’s family attached. (Though there were a coupled of disgusting websites about Trig.)
I agree with Mitchelle, leave her kids alone. Every other vile, nasty and underhanded tactic the dems used is fair game.
There is plenty of material to work with on her and Barry.

There is merit to what you say. My private view is that Michelle is only screeching because there’s no vigorish in the deal for her and Barry. That’s not The Chicago Way: she wants a cut, and she isn’t going to get a cut, so nobody is going to get a cut.
In other words, she doesn’t give a blast about her kids in the spotlite: she’s just greedy, that’s all. She probably had in mind licensing the exclusive rights to The First Family (R) Official Dolls Collection to somebody like The Franklin Mint.
Now her idea is all spoiled! Boo Hoo!
Hopefully the press follows the two young obamma lamma girl children around like they did the Bush girls.

The toy maker has the right to make any doll he/she wants, but I think their decision to market these dolls shows poor taste. The children of politicos (whether it be Chelsea, Jenna, or Rack’s kids) should be left alone.
On the flip side, wasn’t it Rack and Michelle that had their kids plastered all over Inside Hollywood or Entertainment Tonight during the campaign trying to emmulate those JFK family photos?

I might agree more, except the dolls look nothing like their alleged namesakes, except that they are dark skinned.
One thing that always bothers me in the pictures with their daughters. The oldest is often seen smiling with dad, but the younger one looks like she isn’t getting the same attention. At least it is something I noticed in a magazine cover and a pic posted here. It just looked strange to me.
