The Republican Party: It's time for a Revolt
My post at RedCounty ^ | Rus Thompson

Time for a revolt? Yes, it is. It is actually long past due for one, and now is the time to start.

"The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first." Thomas Jefferson

All over the country Republicans have been losing elections, from here in New York to the National elections. Why? Simple, they have lost their way and have strayed so far from their base no one wants to support them or vote for them.

The Republicans have had their chance to set the agenda, but over the past eight years they proved that once in DC, they throw their constituents under the bus. I feel sorry for the people that call me from the RNC looking for donations, I give them an earful, tell them to pass on my thoughts and concerns to the supposed "Leadership". I have refused to donate but still get letters and questionnaires in the mail. We know these are only pretentious efforts to make us believe we are helping to set the agenda. No, the only thing the RNC looks for is that check in the envelope. I have been tempted to send these back empty.

Now it seems that all the Leaders are scratching their heads wondering what they have done wrong. We need new leaders they say, yet the ones that come to the forefront are from the same group that had a part in putting us in the situation we are in today.

Why are they scratching their heads anyway? If they had been listening to us, as they say, they would know why we are in the losers seat. Their answer to the question? Well that was revealed by Limbaugh in an insiders report from the Republican Retreat. Their orders are to basically "Retreat", and now GW Bush is saying we all must get along. Who are they trying to kid, what are they trying to hide? Basically they want us to surrender to the left. Surrender? Sorry that word is not in my vocabulary.

This weekend we had our first meeting of Primary Challenge. The agenda for the next couple of years is to find candidates to run for the Erie County Legislature and other seats that are up in the county. Next year we will be running candidates to challenge the Party committee seats, both Republican and Democrats. The politicos have been in their own world of greed and corruption for so long, it is time to clean house.

It's time to bring Primary Challenge to the National level.

So how do we take back the Republican Party and Congress and rebuild? We have to do this on two fronts. Taking over the committees at the local level is one step and is a long and tedious process but one that must be done. Usually committee seats are only up every two years. Here in New York, that election just occurred, so we have two years to get the right people in place. We need people, people that are fed up and willing to stop sitting on their apathy, stop being keyboard activists, to get up and do something about it.

The next step is one that has to start now, and the House of Representatives is a primary concern. Searching out Reagan Conservative Republicans to run in a Primary against the incumbents is the place to focus. We need to list the RINO's that need to be eliminated in the next election and the Primary is where they are most vulnerable. By listing them now, making this list very public and in their faces, we can hold them accountable for their votes over the next two years. If they know we are coming and they lose, maybe, just maybe they will get the message that the base is taking the Party back..

We are fed up with the excessive spending, the bloated government, the taxes, the patronage, regulations, restrictions, earmarks, government intervention, government control and the surrendering of all we stand for as Reagan Conservatives. Smaller, more efficient, less intrusive government, the free markets, Capitalism and the infrastructure that made this the Great Country we are. We have become a government dependent society where government supposedly has the answers for everything. The same people that got us here are going to fix this mess? I think not.

Last I knew Congress had an approval rating of 12. This proves the point that WE, The People are no longer in control. It is time to put We The People back in charge.

If Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingrahm, Boortz, and the rest of the Conservative talk show hosts are serious about what they say, and their desire to take back the country to put Reagan Conservatives back in charge, they should be all over this plan.

"It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work -- work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it." --Ronald Reagan

Neither does mine Dave. That is why I am doing this and trying to get others to see the light.

It is our job as Patriots and Veterans to hold them accountable. This is a way to do that.

Very bright, firebrand. If the Conservatives get 5 percent of the vote, all the Dems have to do is get 46 percent of the vote. I have said over the years on FR that I will vote for a RINO who caucuses with Conservatives.

The real problem, though, is that those under fifty have shifted so far left.

I would guess that 30 percent of my students are bisexual or gay/lesbian—and I teach at a conservative Catholic college.

There is no sense of the constitution, of limited government, of why states are sovereign. There is NO, and I repeat NO, basis for hope among the present generation of opinion makers. Academics will teach only one side. Journalists will print only one side. Ministers are becoming more politically correct every day. Most Rabbis sneer at the conservatives in their congregations.

As Conservatives concentrate on FOX, the other channels are free to mainline liberals. We Conservatives, even those of us high enough among public-opinion makers to make a difference, have placed ourselves in a ghetto.

Instead of pursuing the Black vote and the Hispanic vote since most Blacks and most Hispanics share our conservative values—particularly on social issues—we have been too busy fearing them.

Exactly, we have crept to the left since JFK and they have enjoyed their time destroying us and the Party. Where else can you get elected as a poor man and then retire in 10 years wealthy? The American dream has been hijacked by them and we need to take it back.

If you are a conservative with school aged kids in public school, you are NOT a conservative. Start tomorrow, pull your kids out of public school.

Yes, we’ll fight, though we’re in for many years of 1-party rule. And “the one” is much more liberal than Clinton or Carter or anyone, for that matter. The damage he will do to this nation is going to be irreversible. And worst of all is to know it matters not to him whether he sells us out - he is, after all, “a citizen of the world.”

Conservatives no longer have representation in the Federal government. The longer this goes on, the more likely it is that it will have to be taken back by force.

Hence, we get posters like this one who want to employ the same old tactics, as if we’re going to be living under the same set of rules.

The problem isn't with their tactics. It's with their philosophy.

I have gotten to the point where I don’t even listen anymore, I am tired of them touting their books and the stupid statements, your a great American. Rush is all about himself and I swear all they like to do is hear their own voices.

Yet they will yell at congress and tell them what to do and how to vote on their shows. Could you imagine the impact they could have if they were about US and not them.

If they don’t jump on then to hell with them.

I agree with 6 of the 7 principles of the Constitution Party.

I basically agree with “no foreign entanglements”, but what if we’re attacked? I believe we need to strike back - on THEIR soil - swiftly and fiercely. And what about helping other free nations in time of war? Isn’t it in our country’s best interest to aid other free nations? I admit I am torn between “minding our own business and taking care of our own matters” and defending the freedom of our allies.
Of courst, at all times we should follow Reagan’s policy of “peace through strength”.

How does the Constitution Party address these issues?

I have looked into the Const. Party as well, but the one about foreign entanglements is where I stop short of joining. It simply needs more explanation.

And, who...pray tell, will enable us to "take it back" when more than half the country is receiving some form of government largess? When more than 90% of minorities vote to re-elect "the one?" When the majority of the electorate votes for lib/dems? When they own all branches of government, education, the media, labor, the banks, and so on?

BTW, don't mistake me for one of the 3rd party nutjobs here. Dilution isn't the answer either. The truth is, we are in for one-party rule for years to come. Everyone here can and will work for what is right...but, the day has past when men will hear sound reason. Instead they want to draw to themselves "leaders" who will tell them what they want to hear. And tomorrow's "president" will do just that...until he has them by the chin-hairs.

I agree with alot of your statement, but think about this. The main stream media will be all over this because we are rising up against the Republican establishment, they are biting at the bit to see something like this.

I would except for all the religion. How bout just support the Constitution. And defend it from domestic enemys.

You have to keep in mind the GOP platform used to be the same way, as the party is "populated" the platform will change slightly, as long as it doesn't slide all the way to the frigging left as the GOP has!

Also keep in mind that our wise founders were all deeply religious and we got a great Constitutional Republic out of it!

The GOP is a lost cause, so take a new direction or stay on the same path.

If this happens, the revolt will become bloody I fear and that is exactly what we are trying to avoid.

Even the best philosophy will not prevail within the American electorate anymore. After all, they don’t even know what philosophy they voted for....they simply fell for tactics.
