The 44th President's letter speaks engagingly of the responsibilities and joys of fatherhood. He mentions that, when his two children came into his world, "I soon found that the greatest joy in my life was the joy I saw in yours. And I realized that my own life wouldn't count for much unless I was able to ensure that you had every opportunity for happiness and fulfillment in yours."
He then recites his wish-list for America's children: schools worthy of them, the chance to go to college, good jobs with good pay and benefits, a cleaner, safer planet, the peaceful settlement of differences. It's a litany of superlatives that's hard to object to.
Obama further states that he wants "every child to have the same chances to learn and dream and grow and thrive" that his daughters have had.
But such a lofty sentiment is not evidenced in his proposed policies.
In 2007, he promised Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion operation, that the first thing he'd do as President would be to sign the Freedom of Choice Act--a radical piece of legislation which is the biggest threat to innocent human life since Roe v. Wade.
While economic concerns may make that promise tough to keep, there's no denying the fact that, throughout his political career, Obama has supported abortion on demand.
How can Obama reconcile his stated desire that every child have a chance to grow and thrive when he previously stated that he was going to teach his daughters about values and morals but, if they made a mistake, he didn't want them "punished" with a baby?
In his letter to his daughters, Obama also writes of the Declaration of Independence, and his grandmother telling him "about the men and women who marched for equality because they believed those words put to paper two centuries ago should mean something." That is the same document that declares that all men are created equal, and that life is an unalienable right.
I spoke recently with an African-American woman who is a veteran of both the civil rights struggle and the pro-life movement. She seemed to experience real pain over the fact that the new President supports legal abortion. She remembered how the previous church she attended was against abortion, but the pastor never talked about it. She wondered aloud, if only Obama were "schooled" about the issue, would he then take up the pro-life cause?
Over the next four years, it will be up to pro-life advocates to help educate the President, and the rest of the populace, about what abortion really means for the children of America...about how it directly contradicts the holdings of the Declaration of Independence.
Perhaps someday Obama will write another letter to his daughters, one expressing his deep regret over policies that denied millions of children the one right that counts the most: the right to life.
Very true.

It may have been a humble, genuine gesture had he chosen not to politicize it.
It looks like Barry punished Omarosa with two churrin.
Did he start his letter by saying, “My Dear Little Burdens:”.
The suit has no emperor
It would make more sense for a president to write the letter to the children of America rather than publish the letter he wrote to his own.
The Great One is ‘evolving’. We’re not allowed to criticize or contradict.
Maybe not, but I’m glad he’s saying these things. The best thing I see on the horizon for an Obama candidacy is a very good role model for the black family. I don’t like the man, but he does seem to be a good and loving father. America as a whole needs this model and black families in particular.
I read the piece and it sounded more like his stump speech. It was filled with unfeeling boiler plate comments. He’s still running for office—its the only thing he really knows what to do. It was propaganda to keep the mantle of sainthood on his shoulders a bit longer. I fear we are in deep do-do.
Like his term as POTUS, all smoke and mirrors with numerous photo-op’s thrown in for pleasure of his brainless fans.
Perhaps one day he’ll get a letter from one or both of his daughters asking why he supported the murder of lifes most innocent.
Perhaps one day his grandchild, while reading about the senseless murder of the millions of innocent babies, will look his grandfather in the eye and say, “There but for the grace of God is I”
He’s been out there seducing everyone, regardless their political affiliation. This is no different.
so what is it? are his children a JOY or a PUNISHMENT? can’t have it both ways! nothing like talking outa both sides of yer mouth there. it must get hard to remember what he said and what he wrote when he isn’t consistant and honest in all things...get caught in the tangled web you weave then, eh, mr Obama?
See, it's a baby. It doesn't become a 'child' until
it begins indoctrination in the public schools.
Hey boys and girls, can you spell b-a-c-k-p-e-d-d-l-e?? (giggle)
Hundreds if not thousands of 15 second TV spots with 4D shots of first trimester children would be a good start.
What this dear lady needs to understand is that Obie is no different from any other liberal elitist who sees abortion as the opportunity to eliminate the lower class.
