LONDON - Russian billionaire and former KGB spy Alexander Lebedev is trying to buy London's Evening Standard newspaper, British media outlets reported Thursday.

He also is part owner of the Novaya Gazeta newspaper, one of the few media outlets critical of the Russian government.

ROFLMAO.....
Lebedev should do a weekly editorial like William Randolph Hearst.
Rosebud....
Buying a newspaper?
Won’t be a billionaire for long.
Codename for Putin?
I kinda figured he’d have some Russian thugs to convince people how having a newspaper subscription could help prevent broken bones, house fires and such. A little different take on the old sales routine where “You gotta sell the sizzle - not the steak”.
That obscure movie trivia is wrong on just so many levels...
A bit off the rails.
“obscure”? It’s probably the most famous bit of trivia in cinematic history.
For a good movie on Citizen Kane, check out RKO 281.
It’s a hoot.
I choose to see “rosebud” as a general term of endearment unrelated to any specific body part.
“body part”? What in the Hell are you talking about?
Ask decimon...he made the initial joke.
Not me. This is sledding out of control.

Heck if its anything like American newspapers, a KGB guy may well be more conservative than the current owners.
This is a poem Dorothy Parker wrote after visiting San Simeon...
Upon my Honor
There’s the Madonna
Standing in a niche
Above the door
Of the well-known whore
Of a prominent son-of-a-bitch!
Was she wearing glasses?
They were giants back then...
No one made a pass at her.
I was just reviewing her bio. Seems many passes were made and many accepted.
One of my favorite DP quotes was when she was about to get on an elevator when someone like Bella Abzug motioned for her to go ahead with, “Age before beauty.” Parker got on the elevator saying, “Pearls before swine.”
I wouldn’t have wanted to be subject to her wit.
