NBC now is saying a flock of geese.

Are they able to get the people off?

Don’t know, but wits are saying it as a fairly smooth, gradual landing/crash into the water

Well Airbuses are designed to float well in ditching to allow escape, thats one good thing about them.

Geez that must have been a pretty big bird to hit that plane in order to bring it down. Never heard of such a thing

“How cold is that water?!”

Well I don’t see any ice. But just looked it up and it is 21 degrees outside in NYC right now. It looks like the people on board got lucky. I think they will get them all out OK. It is a commuter plane. So I assume there are not that many people to get out.

Going through a flock of geese can take out both engines.

I will offer some gallows humor as I am a way-too-frequent flier. Tasteless, and opportunistic, but I’ll go for it.

I guess the folks on the wings are waiting for USAIR to deliver their bags?

Actually, a water landing on a (relatively) smooth body of water is far more survivable than most any off-runway hard surface landing.

If everyone was properly belted in, their prospects for safety are really quite good.

Again, prayers for all involved and praise for the New Yorkers who will do anything and everything to rescue all aboard.

It looks basically intact, you can still see the tail sticking up. There were also reports of people outside the cabin on the wings.
So hopefully, it’s not too bad and the people are OK.

Effin birds think they own the air!
