Cadillac has unveiled pictures of its new presidential limousine, a heavy-duty machine that will transport Barack Obama down Pennsylvania Avenue on Inauguration Day.
The images show a sleek black car with the U.S. flag and presidential standard positioned on the front fenders.
The vehicle, referred to by the Secret Service as "the beast," will reportedly feature heavy armor that is at least 5 inches thick and comes complete with run-flat tires, bulletproof glass and a completely sealed interior to ward off a chemical attack, among many other high-tech security features.
Cadillac confirmed in a press release Wednesday that the company had made a number of improvements over its previous model.
"The latest Cadillac Presidential Limousine is a completely new design, succeeding the DTS Presidential Limousine that debuted in 2004," the company said in a written statement. "The new car incorporates many of the dramatic design and technology features of new and highly acclaimed Cadillac vehicles."
According to the automaker, the car is roughly the same size but is slightly more upright than President Bush's. Some parts of the cabin were cut and sewn by hand, and the rear passenger space includes an "extensive executive compartment" with "mobile office features."
An embroidered presidential seal has been affixed to several panels in the back of the limo. Spotlights were also installed to highlight the flags on the front fender at night.
Older-model presidential limos will remain in use for the vice president and traveling world leaders. The previous model, a modified Cadillac DTS, was introduced at Bush's second inauguration in 2005.

The secret service calls Obama’s limo “the beast”? C’mon. “The Beast?” The guy riding in it would love to be “The Beast.”
Well it isn’t that the majority of Americans chose him. A small minority of Americans voted for him (68 million out of 300 million), and beat out a slightly smaller minority of American voters.
So the electoral votes are misleading. He doesn’t come in with a mandate, but everyone is doing their best to make it seem that he has one. ANd they are all playing dirty.
It is a shame because a sham has been perpetrated on the American people and he is an abject marxist and an enemy to the traditional values and principles upon which this country has been built and prospered.
...and now he is the CINC and leading an administration, with a completely complicit and like minded congress.
I believe in this country, I believe in its people, and I believe that God in Heaven will not abandon the tens of millions who still trust in Him and keep faith with Him...but I also believe we are in for some very difficult times until we turn this around.
Why the hell is the marxist in chief getting a new limo? It’s not like the 2004 model is worn out since those cars are the best maintained vehicles on the planet.
I hear it has heavy duty rear suspension with shocks and air bags. I think the rear end will still drag on speed bumps if Michelle and the first mother in law are in back. And it will probably be rockin if Barack Hussein and Larry Sinclair take it out for a spin.
It was so thoughtful of the Secret Service to name the vehicle after Obama's wife.

What the masses don’t realize is that wealth is NOT A FIXED PIE. Economic is dynamic, not static. Wealth has to be created in order for people to share in it. And it takes CAPITAL to create wealth. The masses don’t have capital. You kill off the rich, you kill off the golden goose. No more gold eggs.
