Are there a disproportionate number of blacks in prison because blacks are more likely to cause crimes, or because they are more likely to be aggressively prosecuted for crimes?
I have heard both interpretations concerning the statistics, but either one seems equally likely.
Things can be interpreted two ways.
Which one do you think it is?
Since I’m a judge I’ll jump in.
Blacks and other minorities like American natives are proportionately lower income. The income level is what drives the statistics of crime. It’s a vicious cycle and you can discuss the cause and effects for hours, but all the numbers will point you in the same direction. Low income = high crime.
Actually, Ann Coulter’s new book, “Guilty” addresses this very thing.
Take out the factor of single-parentage, and the difference in the crime rate between blacks and whites is ZERO.
In other words, blacks raised in single-parent homes accounted for ALL of the gap between black-perpetrated crime and white-perpetrated crime. This study was conducted by a left-leaning organization too.
Ann brought this up on The View, and the cacklers there (Hasselbeck excepted) just couldn’t deal. The black lady that replaced Star Jones asked some sort of stupid question about ‘compassion’. It’s worth viewing the footage (3 parts). It looked like Ann was conducting a kindergarten class. She kept her cool beautifully, and dialed it down to ‘ducks and bunnies’ for the panel and the home audience.
“Are there a disproportionate number of blacks in prison because blacks are more likely to cause crimes, or because they are more likely to be aggressively prosecuted for crimes?”
Would you agree that most homicides are investigated rather thoroughly? Not that it really even matters. When you look at the crime statistics, the numbers are so disparate that I don’t think you can reach any other conclusion other than this is a black (and Hispanic) problem:
Homicide rates for blacks are 7 times higher than that of whites. Further, a white is 18 times more likely to be killed by a black than a black is to be killed by a white.
