Since I’m a judge I’ll jump in.
Blacks and other minorities like American natives are proportionately lower income. The income level is what drives the statistics of crime. It’s a vicious cycle and you can discuss the cause and effects for hours, but all the numbers will point you in the same direction. Low income = high crime.
In my experience most "vicious cycles" result from circular reasoning. What causes low income?
Really? Why didn't whites have these rates in earlier decades and centuries when absolute living conditions lower middle class people were lower than the absolute living conditions of poor people today in the US?
So there are no poor white people?
In general I'd agree that lower income folks probably commit most of the crime, I'm not sure however, that the crime rate for poor minorities are the same. Given a comparable level of poverty, I still think culture contributes as well.
“Low income = high crime.”
....West Virginia is a very poor state with a low crime rate....it is also 95% white.
Or to cut to the chase:
Poor decisions = high crime
That nonsense may rule the day in your courtroom, but in the real world crime is a moral failing chosen by those with weak moral foundations. My Mennonite ancestors arrived in America poor, unemployed, and unable to speak English, but came seeking freedom to follow God as they saw fit. Their was no crime in their community for over a century.
Seems to me “BAD HABITS” lead to low income...which then perpetuates low income, AND high crime.
Correlation does not a cause-and-effect relationship make.
