Obviously, this data did not come from James Hansen. He would figure out a way to make it look like a temperature increase.

This can’t be true. The polar ice caps are melting.

"James Hansen" (..... heh, heh, heh, he said Hansen,)

It's interesting that when AGW is mentioned, both Hansen's name pops up, and NASA becomes more tarred by the cult of AGW at the GISS (headed by Hansen).

MannGoreHansen is the realization of ManBearPig.

That means that it is official. THERE IS NO GLOBAL WARMING.

Does anyone have diverse sources of climate info? I am looking for the truth and want to examine the extremes.

Obviously, this data did not come from James Hansen. He would figure out a way to make it look like a temperature increase.

Actually, he did (twice), but he got caught (both times).

First, he made the October 2008 numbers much higher than the actual, by copying the September 2008 readings, for Russia, into the October data.

When that little sleight of hand was detected, he corrected the Russia data, but fudged the Arctic data to compensate, and get about the same global average.

After the second attempt was detected, it seems he gave up trying to manipulate the data (for now).

I apologize for jumping too quickly. This article is just about the U.S., and I jumped to global mode, without reading carefully.

Hansen has been caught manipulating U.S. data a few times, and has changed his MO to fudging data in places where he thinks people are less likely to be paying attention.

You mean he's only been caught twice. There's no telling how many times and ways he's fudged the numbers.

" Does anyone have diverse sources of climate info? I am looking for the truth and want to examine the extremes. "

One of my favotires sources is from James Hansen himself. Back in August of 2007 he got caught fudging the temp data for the USA and had to correct the data sets. Of course, the media never reported these important corrections because it showed that for the past 100 years in the USA, out of the 11 hottest years, 7 of the hottest all occured before 1955.

Here is the correct data in raw data format. Look at 'annual mean' and look for the highest positive numbers. Those are the hot years. Pick out the 11 hottest years and then count how many occured before 1955.

Contiguous 48 U.S. Surface Air Temperature Anomaly (C): 1880 - 2007

And here is the corrected graph. Again, look at the black lines and not the red lines which are a 5 year rolling average.

The temp is always near average. Thats exactly the reason why this global warming crapola is just that. The deviation in temp is so tiny over the scale of 4 billion years of earths existance that any attempt to make a projection on a global climate change is asinine.

About like interviewing 1 person in China about their favorite ice cream flavor, then trying to predict taste trends for all of Asia, Africa and Europe. The sample size is just too small to draw a reasonable conclusion.

I didn’t know of that specific act of data sabotage, although I was aware of the Y2K ‘mistake’ that he made.

we need to not trust what he says or produces at this point. He’s lost all credibility.

cogitator, FYI: Why I dont get impressed by cites of Hansen or those who treat him as an authority. he’s a loose cannon.

The specific act of sabotage was detected by people from wattsupwiththat.com, as well as readers of icecap.us. I will provide the specific links when I get back to the hotel and off my cellphone. Basically, hansen proclaimed that november was the third warmest in recorded history, while the readers of those sites checked the data and noticed that all of the data from siberia was identical to the october numbers. The data was corrected quickly, but the newspaper stories around the world were already out there and not retracted (or blurbed about on page 40D)...on an unrelated note: I travel extensively throughout north america, and I must wonder...if we are above average in temperature, it must have been ridiculously cold 50 years ago all of the time
