A businessman who is entangled in the grand jury inquiry into possible "pay-to-play" schemes in the New Mexico government has also contributed heavily to Democrats, including Barack Obama.
Rubin and his company donated $100,000 in 2003-2004 to the political committees of Richardson. The contributions came both before and after Rubin's company won a state contract in New Mexico to help finance $1.4 billion for highway and transportation projects, a contract that brought $1.5 million in business for the company, CDR Financial Products.

CDR has been under investigation for its business practices around the country by the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division, the Internal Revenue Service and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Nice work if you can get it...(hint hint....nudge nudge....)
The IRS is examining more than 20 deals between 1996 and 2005 that center on CDR’s involvement in bid-rigging and price-fixing issues, according to court documents filed in an antitrust case in U.S. District Court in New York’s Southern District.
However, I don't see the big deal with his $1000 donation to Obammy. Can't anyone donate that much to anyone's campaign?

Timing looks bad.
David Rubin gave $26,200 to the Democratic Party on Sept. 19 and $2,300 to Barack Obama’s campaign on Sept. 30... Last February, Rubin gave another $1,000 to Obama’s campaign.
I wonder what the motivation behind Rubin’s naming of his company the seemingly-Anglo “Chambers, Dunhill & Rubin” (CDR) was.
It will be “Rubin was never like that when I knew him” as he returns the money. Case closed. Apparently, 0 really never knew anyone before the election.
I wonder how many Democrats have to bow out and resign (So far, Blago and Richardson) due to pay to play politics while Obama sits back all pristine and does the exact same thing? And how many are willing to throw their own career’s under the bus for The One?
At what point will they realize the Democrat Party could care less about them and start realizing they got left holding the bag while Obama gets all the reward?
Maybe I’m dreaming.
I saw that I had skimmed over that first donation of $2300.
thanks geo. similar, newer topic:
Richardson donor also gave to Rendell, Obama
