Obama family prepares to jet out for his inauguration

A new wave of excitement has gripped Kogelo village in Siaya District as relatives of the US President-elect Barack Obama prepare to fly to America for his historic inauguration as America's 44th President.

The President-elect's grandmother, Sarah Obama, is set to lead the delegation to US and was in Nairobi just before Christmas. Sources say the US embassy has already given her a travel visa.

Initial reports that Prime Minister Raila Odinga would lead the Kenyan delegation were refuted by an official in the PM's office. He said Raila would travel to the US in February.

The Standard On Saturday learnt that the team comprising the president–elect's relatives in Kenya will travel 10 days before the historic ceremony on 20th this month. Reports that Obama had personally paid for the airfare could not be confirmed.

The president-elect's half-brother, Malik, said yesterday he would be part of the team that will jet to the US. "Of course I will be there but I will give you more details later," he said from Siaya town. Malik said the Obama family in Kenya is eager to see him being installed as the most powerful man in the world.

But the Kenyan government already warned them not to talk to reporters or else. And you can be sure Obama will keep them under lock and key and guards.

Afterall, Obama campaigned for Odinga, while he was a sitting US Senator. I bet they will be discussing financial arrangements...for making sure Obama’s Kenyan birth certificate will never surface.

Obama is also importing Kenyan musicians to play for him during the inauguration.

What Is Wrong With This Picture?

US President Elect Barack Obama walks down the steps of an Air Force jet January 4 at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. Obama will meet Monday with key congressional leaders to discuss a multi-billion-dollar economic stimulus plan Democrats hope to pass shortly after Obama takes office.

We thought we only had one President at a time. Or is that only when Mr. Obama is asked hard questions?

Still, the printing is so small. Maybe it’s just the seal of the President Select.

By the way, in case anyone is confused. The airplane here is not Air Force One.

Obama arrives in Washington area

ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE (AP) — President-elect Barack Obama has landed in the Washington area, setting up a final march toward his Jan. 20 inauguration.

Obama landed Sunday evening at Andrews Air Force Base before heading for his temporary home at the Hay-Adams Hotel across from the White House. His wife and two young daughters made the same trip from Chicago on Saturday.

Obama landed at the military base aboard a government 757 typically used by vice presidents, first ladies and congressional leaders…

So the Presidential seal had have been put up on this plane.

When you think of all the kids his wonderful dad sired, that’s one enormous carbon footprint! Especially since so many of his relatives are in Africa, China, and who knows where else.
