A show that Springer couldn't even conceive

Roland "Tombstone" Burris goes to Washington this week as part of the Illinois political freak show, and many of us back home will watch it and feel like cringing, at least at the beginning.

Who among us could not wince at the prospect of Tombstone standing before news cameras, his head bobbing, smiling amiably, chattering nonsensically as is his way, insisting he feels no shame. All he wants is to become a United States senator, and he kissed a tainted hand to get there.

His fellow Democrats may be ready to bar his entrance to the Senate chambers, and politicians will be ready, even eager, to play the race card again. If this happens, the man who sent Tombstone to Washington, Gov. Rod Blagojevich will glory in his opportunity to speak directly to his future jury pool.

I understand Harry Reid is caught on tape with Blago. Any truth to this?

That’s what the Chicago Sun-Times has been reporting.

National and Illinois Democrats, from Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on down, could have demanded a special election.

Sad but true. The National Democrats could have prevented all this trouble.

I can’t wait to see Reid play George Wallace at the Capitol door.

Not really. Durbin eagerly brought this up at the beginning of the fiasco and just as quickly clammed up. The risks outweighed the advantages at the time. Besides, it's no trouble. What better way to start a BO regime than with a good clown show.

They were afraid a Republican may have been elected.

The rules in Illinois are pretty clear; the governor appoints a replacement who serves until the next regular election for that position. There is no provision for a special election in Illinois law.

And let's not forget that Barack Obama could have avoided this circus by resigning early enough in 2008, BEFORE the November 2008 election, so that a replacement could have been elected to serve out the term.

No, this is just another poorly executed political maneuver by various people in Illinois politics. When I was growing up in Chicago, we didn't tell ethnic jokes, we elected them.

Blagojevich's p***k for the Senate has his résumé erected in stone.

Roland "Tombstone" Burris goes to Washington this week as part of the Illinois political freak show.....

Chicagoans interested in measuring the (ahem) girth of Burris' ego can stroll
through Oak Woods Cemetery on the South Side.........to admire the would-be
US senator's huge erect tombstone......

" I, myself, have done nothing wrong---but these two
guys are real Chicago lowlifes. My p***k, Burris
is gonna make a great Chicago Senator."

An unidentified source told the Chi/Trib JJJr attended an Oct 31 meeting
sponsored by Oak Brook "businessman" Raghuveer Nayak. Nayak AND
Blagojevich aide Rajinder Bedi told attendees a $million to the Governor
would ensure JJJr got Obama's Senate seat.

" I been in Congress 13 years. My earmarks totaled $231,000 as of 6/1/07.
There's plenty more where that came from IF they make me Senator.
I also told them guys to dump all the unsold Obama DVD's and to start
pushing my poster."

"Pure as the driven snow.......no one in Chicago even comes close."

I understand Harry Reid is caught on tape with Blago.

If it involved lubing with KY jelly.........according to the Dims, that's Congressional Medal material.

I'm just loving all this chicagoland politics being played out nationally.

I hope Obama only used the chicago system to 'climb the ladder' and didn't get too much of it stuck to him . . . /dreaming

“....don’t let the Republicans tell you it’s a terrible time. Illinois Republicans kept their mouths shut under the corrupt former Gov. George Ryan, and they let their party be run by Combine bosses like indicted Springfield insider William Cellini. You could fit their credibility into an olive.

....remember—this is not terrible.

Not for us.

But it is a terrible time for Illinois politicians, from the self-professed reformers to the Outfit stooges, because they’ve been exposed, and now the nation will see how this freak show runs.

"I can’t wait to see Reid play George Wallace at the Capitol door."

This is an urgent SOS from the white racist Harry Reid: Paging all rat racists dead or alive to repel Burris from the $inate Chambers!

Reid, aka, Governor Wallace, to Bull Connor: Please bring your fire hoses and attack dogs to repel Burris from the $inate Chambers!

GO HOME BURRIS. YOU ARE TRESPASSING! GET OUT OF MY LILLY WHITE $INATE!
