Sheriffs deputies were looking Tuesday for a burglar who was shot at by an armed homeowner in the 13000 block of Telegraph Road, authorities said.
The homeowner was alerted by a barking, growling family dog about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Sheriffs Department reported. The homeowner, armed with a handgun, walked down her hallway and found a man who had apparently forced his way into the house, deputies said.
Deputies said the burglar brazenly and antagonistically challenged the homeowner.
Threatened by the aggressive behavior and fearing for her life, the homeowner fired in self-defense at the confrontational suspect, the sheriffs report said.
The burglar fled without taking any property. Authorities did not know Tuesday if the man was injured.
The intruder was last seen running through an orchard with a male accomplice toward nearby Todd Road Jail, sheriffs Capt. Patti Salas said.
Neither the owner nor a toddler at home was injured.
Authorities used dogs, helicopters, heat-seeking detectors and 15 deputies to look for the two men but were unsuccessful. Deputies suspected the pair fled in a vehicle.
Anyone with information on the burglary should contact the Sheriffs Department at 524-2233.
Since he “ran away”, either she missed him or is using the wrong gun. No one wants to shoot somebody, but shooting AT somebody ain’t such a great idea.
Extraordinarily stupid individual.
Seeing the owner of the home armed this fellow rather than fleeing challenges the owner to put up or shut up.
The fool is lucky that the woman was either a poor shot or the pistol was of an inferior caliber.
I wonder when they got there if they just turned themselves in?

My sarcasm tag is missing from the above post.
Ha ha! I got it! :-)
Let us hope that this criminal learned something from the incident...Let us hope THE GUN-GRABBERS learned something from this incident...
The way this poor gal’s hands were probably shaking, she would have been fortunate to even hit the wall. Good for her and too bad she missed.
44Mag Smith and a red-dot... they would have found him... most of him that is.
The gun grabbers would rather the woman have been robbed, raped and beaten rather than have her shoot at someone who broke into her home.
SHE could have hurt him.

In California it's very important to say all the right things to law enforcement after a shooting incident. Looks like she had the lines memorized well.
Too bad she missed.
You’re right. Silly me.
