Obama taps California's political talent (Clinton ReDuX)

California's intellectual pipeline to the White House is again open wide and flowing, as the Golden State will have key advocates bending President-elect Barack Obama's ear on its behalf.

Naturally, the nation's most populous and electorally rich state (which is also rich with campaign contributors) would have a great deal of influence. But the Democratic stronghold mattered less to the Bush administration. As Chris Lehane, a former Clinton administration official and San Francisco political consultant, said: "Before, the door was slammed in our face. Now, the welcome mat is out. The access issue is a big deal."

"You have an awful lot of Californians in key positions now," said former Clinton administration chief of staff Leon Panetta, ...

The influence parade starts with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Director Steven Chu, who is scheduled to be secretary of energy, and Rep. Hilda Solis, D-Los Angeles, nominated to lead the Labor Department. Between them, the state's cutting-edge ideas on climate change and green jobs will be aired across the Cabinet table.

UC Berkeley Professors Robert Reich and Laura Tyson, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Google CEO Eric Schmidt are on Obama's team of economic advisers. And with Panetta, a former Monterey area congressman, and UC Berkeley law school Dean Christopher Edley counted among the confidants of Obama and his top lieutenants, the state's unofficial list of White House advisers is deep, too.

The Obama transition team is filled with Californians from Stanford Professor Linda Darling-Hamilton to Berkeley disability civil rights policy analyst Marilyn Golden generating policy ideas for the incoming administration. "And that counts for an awful lot," said Panetta, who now heads the Panetta Institute. ...

California talent, huh?

Like they have done such a great job with the nearly bankrupt state we now wish the entire nation to follow suit?

One small correction, though. We are not “United” and haven’t been for decades. We must be the Union of Socialist States of America.

Between them, the state's cutting-edge ideas on climate change and green jobs will be aired across the Cabinet table.

How much does one of them there green jobs go for?

Are they on sale at an affordable price that a normal layman can afford?

If so I'll take one if there is a payment plan available.

Maybe they can tap Charlie "Arnold East" Crist.

BTW, Love the Gulfstream. I have seen a DC-3 on floats.

I have seen a DC-3 on floats.

Actually, it performed quite well on floats.

The T-28C, the DC-3, and the T-33A were all owned by the same person (former boss) the DC-3 was my lift to the airshows throughout the country in the '80's.

California’s political talent? The only political talent in CA is the ability to bankrupt a state fiscally and morally in record time.
