Clemenza,
Don’t know when you were in Britain but I also experienced mixed sentiments in the early Seventies by both Left and Right in Scotland, Wales and England.
Hitched a ride on a tank regiment lorry heading into Leeds one afternoon and shared cigars with the guys on board. A great bunch of soldiers. They seemed to have more confidence in the US than our own troops at the time.
Can’t complain too much about France despite their being apologists for every anti-American nutcase. In 1977, I spent days in Paris with a Sorbonne student and time on the Cote d’Azur with a budding English model and a Moroccan hotel receptionist (not at the same time). The students at the Sorbonne were spouting off Maoist drivel (at the time I could understnad enough French to recognize the rantings of Chairman Mao). Along the Cote d’Azur, a number of towns were ruled by Communists but at least they weren’t in your face with all the propaganda.
Same time period. I cant even visit The Wall, let alone go back to the country of my greatest nightmares for a visit. Just me. Glad you enjoyed your trips. True, great food the local adult beverages left a lot to be desired. The women, on the other hand, WOW. ;-)
Read “A Clockwork Orange” by Anthony Burgess. Britain’s sickness is traced to Socialism and its feeling of guilt (by Socialists).
So, their country is overrun by Muslim radicals, Jamaican drug dealers and trash from their former colonies.
And, of course, they won’t protect themselves like we do. THAT is why they hate us.
Leave London, stay away from Oxbridge, and you’ll find that the UK is filled with fine people. After all, those splendid British soldiers who fought by our side in Iraq had to come from somewhere, didn’t they? Their mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, are still living on farms and in small British towns. They might not agree with us about everything but their values are in the right place. It was not they who voted the leftists into office, any more than it was us who voted Obama et al. into office. Many of them are heartsick and weary at the nightmares taking place in their beloved country. More than 200,000 of them leave the UK each year. And while this might not be the best thing for the UK, one can hardly blame them.
The way or country is going, they wont hate us much longer they will call us brothers in sheri’a :-(
Last time I was in London (several months ago), there were so many Burkas I thought I was in downtown Tehran. I felt like a stranger in a strange land (to borrow a book title). I couldnt wait to get back to the suburbs were there were still English people.
... because they wanted to continue doing business with you.
LOL! Veddy true...
Socialism does that. But it's not confined to America. They hate anyone who's successful, including their own countrymen. It's hard to express the depth to which resentment against achievement and success runs in that country. It manifests itself in mindless vandalism and violence. Anything of beauty or splendor is a target. The urge to tear down runs very strong. They've completely swallowed the lie that "equality" means everyone must be the same and anyone who's achieved success must be a crook. Bitter, bitter class envy.
I've spent lots of time (years) in Britain and the anti-Americanism stems from their own mediocrity and misery. They get a little "two up, two down" council house, a Ford Fiesta to buzz about in and enough money for a week in Ibiza in July and they think they've got it made.
At the same time, they're blind to the horrendous state of their own society, the loss of their Christian heritage which has created a huge spiritual void, and the demographic changes which are gradually turning the country into an Islamic mission territory.
Add to this a deep ignorance of the real America due to the fact that most have never been here and know only what they read in their atrocious tabloid fish-wrappers which pass for daily newspapers and you have a recipe for the sort of garbage written in this post.
I worked with a guy form Britain once, He was amazed at the distances we had to drive to get anywhere. I told him that America is a vast country, that other than the coastal states, is relatively sparsely populated. Then he went on about Our cheap beer and guns. I told him that there’s more guns in this country than people, and that we thrive on cheap, cold beer, and cheap plentiful ammunition. This completely dumbfounded the guy. He just couldn’t wrap his head around the concept that people still hunted for their food.
> we thrive on cheap, cold beer, and cheap plentiful ammunition.
(grin!) That sounds like it could be a great tagline!
The Daily Mail site is filled, every day, with British crime storirs that end in the police not showing up, or failing to investigate, or booking the victims instead of the criminals. Read it - it's a hoot.
Do they look like little lobsters down there too?
You can always tell the Brits around Orlando. They are usually the ones with the pasty skin that has red hue; the depth of which is governed by how many days they've been here. :-)
Yeah, I poke fun at everyone. But I made a lot of Brit friends in Berlin. Especially the NAAFI truck that used to come by our site. Man, the Bearclaws were out of site.
> Do they look like little lobsters down there too?
Yup — and sunburn makes them grouchy

You can tell them a mile away: the men wear soccer jerseys, walking shorts, sandals and socks. The women wear frocks, a big sun-hat and cheap running shoes. Hillarious!
There is almost no trace of the war left except in the museums and at TSN the old hangars are still there. Even Cam Ranh is just a pretty town with wide streets. The Cu Chi tunnels are a major tourist attraction. The women are still exquisite.

They probably won’t approve of mine either. Then again, the people running that paper seem to believe more in solipsism than in reality.
An idiot killed his family on Christmas. That’s sad. But 68 million & some odd gun owners didn’t kill anybody. These things are sad, but they’re statistical anomalies— most people don’t do those sorts of things.
Also, they printed the part about his flame thrower, but they missed an important point. If he hadn’t had his guns, he’d have just used his pipe bombs and flame thrower and the result would have been the same, except that the occupants would have been burned alive. And the wounds inflicted by pipe bombs or any other kind, are terrible, given that those explosive fragments have a higher coefficient of resistance going in, follow odd ballistic tracks inside the body and do so with far more energy than a rifle bullet pushing them. Given a choice of a bullet or a bomb fragment or severe burns, I’ll take the bullet, thank you very much. My chances of surviving one of those is a lot higher than the other two!
And these idiots still haven’t learned the lesson that is so obvious from their gun ban. Before the ban, all the cops had to worry about was the occasional Webley, Enfield, old war trophy Walther or Luger. Now, the Yardie gangs have MAC-11s built in some shop in Birmingham and Makarovs smuggled in from Bulgaria and the cops who decided that they were undergunned carrying MP5A3s, now carry G36s.
Pass a ban and the net firepower of somebody intent in mayhem goes up, not down, and the UK is proof of that.
For the last 11 years. while the Labour Government has been in power in the UK, Anti Americanism has been one of the methods of attacking Blair and Brown used by the left and right. The Tories and Lib Dems say nothing against this as they would use any means to get rid of Labour. In the end, there is no power group that has an interest in defending a Republican America. This is on top of 90 years of left wing subversion and indoctrination of the UK.
If we start now, it can be undone, but the US shows no sign of wanting to counter this sneaky Communist Revolution.
Not in New Jersey, New York City and a long list of others.
