Scientists doubt inventor's global cooling idea _ but what if it works?
Yahoo. ^

WASHINGTON — Ron Ace says that his breakthrough moments have come at unexpected times — while he lay in bed, eased his aging Cadillac across the Chesapeake Bay bridge or steered a tractor around his rustic, five-acre property.

In the seclusion of his Maryland home, Ace has spent three years glued to the Internet, studying the Earth's climate cycles and careening from one epiphany to another — a 69-year-old loner with the moxie to try to solve one of the greatest threats to mankind.

Now, backed by a computer model, the little-known inventor is making public a U.S. patent petition for what he calls the most "practical, nontoxic, affordable, rapidly achievable" and beneficial way to curb global warming and a resulting catastrophic ocean rise.

Spray gigatons of seawater into the air, mainly in the Northern Hemisphere, and let Mother Nature do the rest, he says.

Brilliant!

I mean, spraying gigatons of water into the atmosphere would certainly cool us down! It's not like water vapor is some sort of "greenhouse gas" or anything! And as for getting gigatons of water into the atmosphere, why, we'd hardly need to burn any fossil fuels to do it!

Now that the coming cooling cycle almost upon us, this IS the time to take swift action and cool this planet down as much as possible!

Hmmmm. So the MSM is starting to use the new PC term “global cooling” instead of the knee-slapper “global warming” (poor algore)

This story goes to show you just how arrogant and incompetent many scientists are. They do not want to hear from anyone that doesn’t have a Phd or who won’t give them federal funds to study what ever is in vogue in the scientific community.

It’s also scary how many scientist are beholden to computer models when those models are proven to be wrong time after time.

People used to understand that weather is not climate. But not anymore.

They see temperatures go up -- "Global Warming!"
Temperatures go down -- "Global Cooling!"
Some days are different from the day before -- "Climate change!"

How silly do you have to be to panic over the weather?

Spray gigatons of seawater into the air...

If he can patent that, I want to patent taking a leak. Send the royalties to OLTG. No checks, please!

Amazing how little note is made of the widespread impact of senility.
This well-meaning codger has no grasp of computers; or computer modeling. But then, millions of non-senile morons are susceptible to the same ignorance.

A bad idea ... that has some sense in it.

The amount of electric energy to pump gigatons of ocean water spray into the air would have to significantly exceed the amount of heat energy absorbed by the water spray, and that isn’t going to happen.

Applying a water spray process, however, into nature’s gravity-feed falling water process ... might have some merit.

...well let’s see: assuming that the globe is warming up, that would mean that there would be MORE evaporation resulting in MORE water in the atmosphere.

And what about all the salt you’re going to toss in to the air?

So wouldn’t the problem be self correcting at the very least?

This is INSANE. OMG I hope someone with some BRAINS is trying to talk to this guy.

Al Gore is a 60 year old loser who has spent his latest years with the moxie to scam people about the earths climate.

Mr. Ace genius inventor, if you sprayed your gigatons of water into a solar downdraft tower, you could also generate gigawatts of electric power...AND air condition the desert at the same time! It's a win / win / win for everybody!

One big asteroid ought to do it. Gigatons of water all over.

Rig the spray-pumps to generate their own power using the motion of seawater.

Absurd. Does the inventor realize how immense his project? Its as crazy as thinking man could cause global warming. Obviously voted Obama.

What if it works? Cool... let’s spend all the worlds money to see.

Just heard of exposure deaths in Chicago today...from the cold. We should embrace global warming...life would be easier. Leaders worldwide are seriously f’d up in the head

The evaporating water, Ace said, would cool the Earth in multiple ways: First, the sprayed droplets would transform to water vapor, a change that absorbs thermal energy near ground level; then the rising vapor would condense into sunlight-reflecting clouds and cooling rain, releasing much of the stored energy into space in the form of infrared radiation.

Whoever believes this guy is a genuine idiot. It takes energy to boil water on the ground. Some of the energy is not transferred to the water, so the attempts to evaporate water at ground level will result in the release of heat at the ground level. You can't get more energy to evaporate than you put in. You'll always get less due to inefficiences. Most of the water vapor in the atmosphere is not in the form of clouds. It is an invisible greenhouse gas. It does not rain when it is 98% humid. The distance between cloud tops and space will affect the application of his 'model.' He's off by about 300,000 feet.

It will be interesting to see how many university professors, weather forecasters, and politicians believe this crap.
