Rocket Attack on Ashkelon
IsraelNN ^

Posted on 12/17/2008 3:09:23 AM PST by maquiladora

(IsraelNN.com) Gaza terrorists escalated their attacks on the western Negev Wednesday morning, launching a barrage of Kassam rockets at the coastal city of Ashkelon shortly before 11:00 a.m. A number of strategic installations are located in the area, including an electric power plant.

At least two of the more advanced types of the homemade missiles struck the southern section of the city, sending several people into severe emotional shock. Three workers at a factory in the city's industrial zone were evacuated to Barzilai Hospital after they complained of ringing in their ears following the attack.

A third Kassam rocket slammed into an area near Kibbutz Yad Mordechai, an agricultural community south of Ashkelon that is world famous for its honey, jams, oils and other condiments. No one was injured in the kibbutz and there were no reports of damage.

The attacks bring the number of missiles fired at Israel since the beginning of the day to ten rockets and one mortar shell. The first barrage by Gaza terrorists began just as children were leaving their homes to go to school Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, the number of rockets that have struck the western Negev in the past eight years topped the 10,000 mark.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak has ordered the Gaza Crossings to remain closed for a second day in response to the attacks. Barak decided to close the crossings on Tuesday in retaliation for the rocket fire, cancelling a delivery of foodstuffs and other humanitarian aid to the region as a result.

Jordan is the true Palestinian state, and it is over 70% Palestinian Arab now, and it even has a Palestinian Queen Rania. There is No need of two Palestinian states, side by side. That is pure foolishness.

The Jews have even shared their homeland and government with the Arabs, but no Arab state shares anything with the Jews for common good.

The USA is wrong, totally wrong, pushing for two Arab states, side by side.

We put up with these stupid rockets/mortars almost daily. They inflict little or no damage or injuries. Unmanned air planes should patrol the area and shoot hellfire missiles at the launching areas. The Arabs only respond to one thing: Brute force that kills 100 of theirs to every one they kill. That’s why we are still here in Iraq and Afghanistan and troop morale is lower than I’ve ever seen it; we are trying to fight a civilized war with an uncivilized people. We need to either fight or pull out now.

My Old Testament memory is a bit dodgy sometimes: can someone please remind me — was “Ashkelon” once a Philistine stronghold in the time of King David?

The Israeli’s deserve the missiles, and the suicide bombings, and the massacres. Any country not willing to do what it takes to survive, is asking for war and terrorism.

Why are food shipments allowed to go into Gaza? Why are Gazans enjoying Israeli gas and electricity? Why do tens of thousands of Gazans work in Israel? Why are the Kasam attacks not answered by artillery barrages against densely populated areas? Why are imprisoned terrorists not executed in retribution for Israeli civilian deaths? Why is the whole sh*thole not pulverized into dust???

You gonna fight a war with kid gloves, you will get missiles up your butt. Hitler was not defeated by feeding German civilians, supplying them with gas and electricity, and letting them work in the US.

Before anyone flames me, I am an Israeli and have two cousins in the IDF. I love Israel and would die for that country, but the cowardice of the politicians and population makes me want to vomit.

Israel should mass up a bunch of artillery on Gaza and announce if the rocket attacks don't stop they will turn the first few miles inwards into a dead zone.

A country that lets its citizens suffer 10,000 rocket attacks, and responds only with a temporary closing of a border crossing, must know that there are going to be another 10,000 rockets fired...

Ashkelon is where Delilah had Sampson’s hair cut.

It was actually one of the five major Philistine cities; Ashkelon, Ashdod, Ekron, Gath, and Gaza

Let’s see. Suppose a Pali rocket takes out the Israeli power plant. Palis cry to the UN that Israel is not providing electricity to Gaza. The UN censures Israel.

Is that about right?

Give Gaza back to Egypt and let that be that.

Cut the water and power, cut off all shipments and eject all Gazans.

Then tell every Pali on the West Bank, if there is one attack on Israel theie entire village will be destroyed.

Good thanks, mate. We’re sliding into summer now. In New Zealand and in Australia most people take their annual leave around Christmastime, so we have a “silly season” coming up where not much will get done for a month or so.

> I’ve got some friends down in PNG.

I haven’t been to PNG before but I’d like to. New Zealand sometimes sends peacekeeping troops up that way, I believe: to PNG, and Guadalcanal, the Solomons — it’s supposed to be an interesing corner of the world. Maybe one day...

I’ve been to Virginia, tho’ — back in 1989. You live in a beautiful State.

You may be thinking of the death of King Saul - 2 Samuel 1:19-20
Thy glory, O Israel, is slain upon thy high places! How are the mighty fallen!

Tell it not in Gath, Publish it not in the streets of Ashkelon; Lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, Lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
