U.S. Embassy Sanaa issued the following Warden Message on December 16:
The U.S. Embassy has received information that three German nationals were abducted in the Bait Bous tourist area in the suburbs of Sana'a.
Around the same time, a Western diplomat was the subject of what may have been a failed kidnapping attempt on the road to Bait Bous. U.S. citizens in Yemen are advised to avoid the Bait Bous area and should exercise caution and take prudent security measures in all areas frequented by Westerners, including maintaining a high level of vigilance, avoiding crowds and demonstrations, keeping a low profile, varying times and routes for all travel, and making contingency emergency plans such as ensuring travel documents are current. All American citizens who have not already done so are urged to register with the U.S. Embassy.
The U.S. Embassy is located at Dhahr Himyar Zone, Sheraton Hotel District, P.O. Box 22347. The telephone number of the Consular Section is (967)(1) 755-2000, extension 2153 or 2266. Knowing the situation in the world. The pirate problem in the area. Not to mention the Muslim against the world thing going, why would anyone go here?
Would you not think just maybe U could get snatched? Held for a bologna sandwich or killed like a cockroach.
mohammedans kidnapping kafir? Say it isn’t so!
When I think of places to vacation in, Yemen does not spring to mind.
I just can't imagine the carelessness of anyone going there as a tourist.
This if vey series.
Not even for a bushle of qat?
Quite a few years ago I read an article that said that Yemen was the most backward country in the world. So unless I were and archaeologist, which I should have been, I see no need to go there.
